The taxis are going to be fine as its a local dorset taxi company that has been booked and prepaid both ways and regarding the time factor and delays - well my mum is a one for getting to airports much earlier than she needs to so she will allow loads of time at the airport especially as she is having to manage my brother and luggage so it will be ok.
Thanks for your advice though!0 -
If you stay at any of the hotels on the Bath road - Park Inn, Rennaisance, Holiday Inn,Sheraton, Etc you can use any TFL (140,105,285 etc) buses running to the Central Bus station for free (this is part of the Heathrow Estate so offered as a concession). You can then walk to Terminal One and catch the Heathrow Express direct to TN4 free of charge. Approx 5 min walk from bus station to TN1 lifts down to the walkway and direct to the platform if you have lots of luggage.

As you seem to have a reliable cab co. then your mother has probably got it right.Don't
know if your brother has a wheelchair, but there some available at all the terminals.
Might be worth a quick call to ter 4 beforehand to see if one can be ready for you on arrival.
Also there are "porters" there that have luggage trolleys that can help your Mum.Think
they cost about £10 but they get you right up to the check-in queue. If memory serves
they wear some sort of red uniform- your driver should be able to locate one.Should
one not be required, ask the driver to get a trolley and load it up for her.
On the way back, wheelchairs will also be available as will skycaps -I think thats what the porters are called. Might be an idea for your Mum to find out about where they can be obtained, before she flies out as there will be lots of waiting time.
Another thing, if your Mum is arriving at a busy time, it can be sometimes hard to find
her driver as there can be as many as thirty or more other drivers trying to meet up
with their passengers.
If she can, it is better to arrange a meeting place slightly away from the main arrival
area. eg the information desk. The info desk can also be used to make contact with your driver if you still can't find him/her.
And once again, get the number of a local Heathrow cab firm in case things do go wrong with your cab company. After all, your Mum won't want to stay there for two hours whilst a replacement cab is sent. And she can get the money back from the local
company to pay the Heathrow one.
Hope your Mum and brother have a great holiday.0
