Unlocking Motorola V220?

I have read the thread at the top and it says it is not possible to do it remotely but have seen on some websites that you can send them your IMEI number and they will send you back a code to unlock your phone (at a price of course!!) so am wondering if it IS possible to unlock this phone via a code??

Also, I have seen that this phone can be linked to a PC via a mini USB cable and unlocked this way, does anyone have any advice or experience of this?? On another forum it said you need to download software and following a procedure but could not get the software until I registered with the forum so thought I would ask here first!!

The phone is currently locked to Tesco mobile (I believe this is O2?) and want to use a vodafone SIM in it...

Any advice gratefully received!!

you used to be able to get remote code from people who had access to moto database but it was expensive and i think its stopped again now
you can do it remote here with usb cable (and you can check the cable connection and if its going to work before you pay)

cheapest option would be market phone stall which should be £5-£10

Ah so you can't get the software for free then? I have a mini usb cable which I believe will connect the phone to the PC (its a friends phone so I havent had chance to try it yet!) and thought I may be able to get the software and download it for free and unlock it... shame thats not the case so you are right, a market phone stall looks like it is gonna be the best bet for her on this one!

EDIT: I just did a google and found this site that offers the software to unlock Motorolas for free...

I have downloaded it but as I say I need to get the phone off my friend to try it......

there is some free s/w about (and that may be it) but ive not tried it myself and you may also need the drivers for it
worth a try before paying out though
