Help,
I am currently with Orange, but find them expensive for calls and texts, the problem is some months I make more Texts than calls and vice versa.
I have looked at different Phone sites but cannot seem to find out who is the cheapest.
Can anyone out there advise.

A contract would be the cheapest, otherwise o2 online £10 a month for either 300 texts and £10 of calls or 100 anytime calls and 100 texts.0 -
I think the cheapest costs for calls and texts, with no tie-in on minumum spend involved goes to Easy Mobile And Fresh mobile jointly, both who use the T-Mobile Network. All calls are 15p a minute anytime/any network, and all texts are 5p. Easymobile though will charge you 75p a month if your spend is under £5.00 in a 3 month period. Tesco also do a tariff with these rates, and this uses the o2 Network. One thing that has always puzzled me is why the virtuals seem to offer better network rates, than those that operate the actual networks themselves??0

do a search for fresh and easy to find out why you shouldn't be using them.Originally Posted by richardjames73

The original post was asking who was cheapest. Easy and Fresh may have some hidden costs, but I find are more than compensated by the substantially cheaper call and text rates.0

Thanks for the advice, I have heard a few bad things about Easy mobile, I might just stick with Orange and go on their free text plan although the cost of the calls are dearer my wife is with Orange and happy with them.

Virgin
15p a minute for the first five minutes of calls each day and 5p after that.
Text messages 10p
Easy
Standard Voice Calls 15p
Text Message (SMS) 5p
Fresh
Standard Voice Calls 15p
Text Message (SMS) 5p
Tesco standard tariff
Calls 20p per minute 10p for 3 favourite numbers
Texts 10p each
Not only are virgin cheaper, after 5 minutes they're substancially cheaper. Tescos standard works out substancially cheaper for favourite numbers, and the no-frills works out the same price as easy (without all the extra fees easy charge).Originally Posted by richardjames73

But Virgin charges 35p/minute to other networks? The reason why Fresh etc are better value is because their 15p/min is flatrate to any network plus they have cheaper text messaging cost.0 -

But we don't know how the OP uses his phone. Does he just text and phone to the same mobile, only 2 or 3 numbers, does he only call landlines etc. Only thing we can do is point him to several companys and let him work it out on his usage.
From MY usage, virgin offered the best tariffs and the best coverage in my area. I dislike Fresh due to the fact they ripped my of once, and easy because I do need like giving operators my bank details or credit card details so they can take money out of my account when they feel my balance has dropped too low.
Its up to the OP to work it our himself on the info given in the companies tariffs, the coverage, and the horror of owning a fresh or easy mobile sim.Originally Posted by richardjames73
