Hi guys,
i phone australia often but mainly on mobile. o2 is charging 35p per min (with international bolts on).

Does anybody knows an access number for australia mobile starting with 0844 or 0774 for peak and off-peak time?

i will hopefully be able to use my inclusive minutes more effectively and make some savings as well.

Any help will be welcome.

thanks

The MSE Callchecker has no 0844s but 0871s starting at 6p which you could use from a landline.

If it must be from a mobile, you could either use a calling card or Call18185 for around 10p on top of your inclusive minutes, or ...

Or these 07744 providers advertise coverage - see if they work

  • If you get a Mobile World PAYG simcard (£4.99), calls to Australia are flatrate 6p/min to landlines, or 20p/min to mobiles. International texts are 15p each.

You can also use it for UK calls which are 15p/min X-Net any time, and 7p texts.

That will be in the old threads about 07744 numbers - try a search; I'd guess 30p or so. But I thought you said you're on O2?

yeah im redux...but i thought an another way of saving some minutes.....using the free vodafone stop the clock sim.

Pay for the first 3 minutes and then enjoyed the next hour. Can only be use to call uk non-prenium number.

So i will pay only around 90p and talk for next 60 minutes.

NB i think vodafone is giving some free sims at the minutes as well, which mean another £5 saving

That's an idea (might be 40p/min on payt?), or also ...

If it is just one person you are talking to, you might send them a Vodafone UK SIM on Passport (with some cash on it?!), and use stop-the-clock on yours. This would mean you could talk off-peak for up to one hour for 15p charge on this one, and 75p on the other one. The abroad one can be topped up with local Vodafone vouchers, or you could text a code off one here ...

Don't know if that is useful - might give other people a couple of ideas too

Going back a bit, I reckon that those 07744 providers will work, but it sounds like you will make long calls and don't want to use all your minutes.

It could be better to arrange to call when both at landlines - then only 1p a minute or thereabouts. If you don't have a landline subscription, you could still use a callback service or calling card ...

Well im still going to use my inclusive minutes but only want to find the cheapest way to call there after all the free minutes are gone.

I have tried the number you(redux) gave me above and its working fine.

I was also thinking of getting a free o2 sim with 100 minutes but the only problem is that i have to top up £10 at least every month whereas with the vodafone one...its a minimun of £5.

However with the vod. sim can only be use 7.30 a.m to 7.30 p.m weekdays and weekends and I was also told that vod. has the right to stop the benefit if somebody is abusing the system.

If anybody has got the lastest tariffs for call to 0774 on vodafone....please post it here!!

    thanks
