Setanta are desperate

Hi,
I phoned Setanta yesterday to give 1 months notice to cancel the package for the summer (june / july) due to the football season sadly coming to a close.
The lad on the phone went into the usual "oh dont leave, we have golf , we have football internationals, we have friendly's" spiel. I said i def wanted to cancel so he offered to drop my package to £9.99 per mth. I said no to this and after several mins of trying to convince me to take it, including threatening with a £15 reconnection fee when i rejoin in august, he eventually agreed to give me half price for 3 mths & the 9.99 for 12 months.
If your with them phone up and see what you can get. They really NEED the customers just now as they are trying to renegotiate their commitments to their contracts.
Hope this helps!

Glad you got a good deal in the end.
They are desperate for many reasons imho, the first one being they messed up when bidding for the EPL rights. Secondly they have the worst customer service department I have ever had the misfortune to deal with:mad:, they are the only company I have ever dealt with who try to threaten and intimidate their customers and then when they realise you aren't some shrinking violet and are willing to stand up to them cut you off. I wouldn't rejoin Setanta if they paid me.
Good luck if you do ever want to really cancel.;) 0 -

They are also trying to renegotiate their deal with the SPL. They signed up to 125 mill over 5 years and want this to drop to 100 mill. Needless to say SPL dont want to let them0 -
When my O/H rang to cancel he too got the please don't go spiel, but he hasn't taken them up on the reduced subs0
