Hey guys, now I'm a bit worried about posting this recommendation, but I'm going to go for it anyway, and if somone thinks it shold be taken away, please do so.
I used to have no problems with cold calls and sales, then after a few years away from it I realised I just couldn't do it. Recently I discovered a book called The Jelly Effect by Andy Bounds. It just helped me reshuffle my approach and thinking. May help you toofor more info check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk . You'll find me there.
New Year's Resolution: Post less unnecessary posts. (and that was 2007)
yes, I realise I may appear cold and heartless a lot of the time.0 -
Just found the post and it strikes me that most new businesses find themselves in the same boat...especially us smaller ones....lol....
I find it easy to communicate via letter, email etc when looking for jobs....but as the original poster has said....calling people on the phone (the right people!) is a nightmare...have I got the right person...will I ask the right thing etc.
We actually completed a project (training DVD) for a client that addresses all of those problems...surprisingly enough, after listening and watching him for quite a number of hours (filming and editing) the message started to "sink in".
We started using his techniques and followed his instructions...and it works!
He operates a sales training company and you can get the DVD straight from his website, he trades under the name "salesxcellence" so a simple google will find him. I don't want to post his web address here but if you want to check him out, have a look, we genuinely found him VERY helpful to our business...
like the previous poster, I'm wary of posting recommendations, but I feel if you can honestly say something has helped you...or your business...point people in that direction....after all....you can take a horse to water....etc....etc...
it costs nothing to lookI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -

This is probably way too late, and i can't see the OPs website, but just wanted to say that this website: http://www.csszengarden.com/ has some beautiful examples for css and html for your own site.
Even if you don't use the free code they give you, it's a fantastic resource for deciding how to layout your webpages and to give you inspiration.
Also bear in mind that due to Accessibility laws, business especially stand more chance of getting sued these days due to poor/inaccessible websites. If you make your own websites you should always run them through an accessibility checker like this one: http://www.wave.webaim.org/index.jsp
Hope this helps someone:j Ready to take control of my life! :j
