Xbox360; How many people keep the serial numbers?

My son Xbox360 had a fault on it, we googled to search for a site that would fix it in our area found and this one;

He collected his Xbox 360 only to find out when he got home it was not the one he had given in.
His was only just over 12mths old so just out of warranty & immaculate.
He is fussy & everythng has to be in it's place & clean.( I know unusual for a man)
When he went to put his game in he saw immediately that it was not his, the disc drawer was dirty/dusty to him.

Plus it did not work?

He then checked the serial number & guess what it was not the same?

He rang http://www.allconsolerepairs.co.uk/ straight away to be told his young son must of mixed them up.

How many people keep the serial numbers??

Sounds like they've taken his shiny faulty Xbox, and replaced it with a grubby working one. I'd be calling my solicitor.

We have now recieved his (we think Xbox360)

not normally no.

BUT if he registered the console with microsoft, he can just goto the xbox warrenty support page and it will list the registered serial number.

a lot of harware registrations are like this, although it is good practice to write down all your serial numbers yourself.

Another problem is they can just change the outer box, so Serial number is the same!
You do not know if what is inside is also yours?

Is there a way of finding that out because this is really sus?

What do we do then??

My other worry is.

The part that states;

I thought I was delivering it to a shop, you must admit it looks genuine?

When I'd phoned to say I'd be there soon, he said he was stuck in Southport but to leave it with his wife!

Hardly seems worth the effort given that they only last 5 mins
(sorry - couldn't resist)

BTW - The 3 year warranty also covers the mysterious E74 fault which now happens instead of the RRoD in some cases.

I cant see anything which would make you think it is a professional outfit

He'd already had the rrod problem & Xbox did fix it we didn't know they covered anymore faults in the 3yr warranty.

I see what you mean now, the site looks home made but I did look though it & its payment page lets you use Paypal, Credit cards, even Direct debit ect.

I think he might have an Ebay shop?

Anyway at least he's got a Xbox360!
Just hope it doesn't break again.
