Can't believe you actually have to ask if you can spend it!! Of course you can't!

Ring the bank tomorrow and tell them what they've done and they'll fix it.

It'll probably disappear overnight so enjoy looking at it now.
If you spend it knowing it to be an error then you are committing fraud and the bank could prosocute accordingly.

Sorry to be pedantic but the bank could not prosecute - they could merely report it to the appropriate authorities and leave it to them to prosecute the OP.

You can spend all the money - it's in your account.

Come Tuesday, the bank will realise the error and take it away and demand it back immediately.

You'll then be £17,000 in the red - with all those bank charges accruing like the national debt.

Roll on some months, when they've harrassed you and you've been close to suicide due to the constant letters and phone calls leading to sleepless nights, you'll find the bailiffs at your door.

It's their money, not yours. You know it, they will know it.

So, spend away if you want.

Just wondering if anyone can help me as im unsure what to do....

I rang my bank this morning as i had direct debits due out on tuesday and they had taken all of my money and left me £101 over drawn.

I rang the bank and told them that i needed the money as i needed to buy shopping and i had 2 children. They said that they would cancel the direct debits and adjust my available balance allowing me to spend £80 today and would return the rest of the money which was only around another £50 on tuesday. They said it would take around half hour for it to show on my available balance.

I checked online around an hour later only to find i had over £17,000 as my available balance. My actual balance is still showing as normal.

Im not sure what to do? Can i spend this money? And what happens is i do? I keep checkin my balance online and its driving me crazy looking at all that money just sitting there.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

If you know the money is not yours why do you ask this question. Ring the bank again and get them to clarify exactly what is available to be withdrawn today and if say £17,000 then query it.

Make a screen print and frame it!

Then you can look at it for the rest of your life: “For two days, I was (almost) rich.”

What you need to do to rectify this is transfer the money from your bank account into my bank account. That will solve all your problems :D
