17000 + in my account

Just wondering if anyone can help me as im unsure what to do....

I rang my bank this morning as i had direct debits due out on tuesday and they had taken all of my money and left me £101 over drawn.

I rang the bank and told them that i needed the money as i needed to buy shopping and i had 2 children. They said that they would cancel the direct debits and adjust my available balance allowing me to spend £80 today and would return the rest of the money which was only around another £50 on tuesday. They said it would take around half hour for it to show on my available balance.

I checked online around an hour later only to find i had over £17,000 as my available balance. My actual balance is still showing as normal.

Im not sure what to do? Can i spend this money? And what happens is i do? I keep checkin my balance online and its driving me crazy looking at all that money just sitting there.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Oh course you can't spend the money.

    Don't be ridiculous.

Sorry - didn't realise this was a troll thread.

Haven't you got anything better to do with yourself?

i am really not talking bs. I am deadly serious. I rang the bank this morning and spoke to them and now i have over £17000 in my account.

I have just registered to ask peoples advice. I am not going to waste my time and yours by lying. I have no reason to.

I'd go and buy a new car if I were you ;)

Seriously - do you really think you can spend it?!!

  • It will be a rather big error on the part of the bank, if you think you're entitled to spend ANY of that you'll be shafted by the bank more times than a Nottingham prostitute. :D

It sounds to me like they have accidently given you a £17,000 overdraft....spending it would make it your debt that you need to repay.

That's what I was going to say!
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
