Faulty item

Hi,
Recently received an item I won and it is faulty, when I emailed the seller to tell him he claims it was working before he sent it out and that we must have blown the fuse on connecting to the mains.
Any advice?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I am abit wary of this at this stage, I personally do not think it was the fuse as normally you can tell when a fuse goes. I have emailed the seller stating that I am prepared to get the fuse checked out but I want him to agree to a refund if it isn't the case.
Do you think this is reasonable?0 -
BTW, I am wary about opening the casing to the item, it is a DJ mixer so it's not just changing the fuse in the plug!0

If you open the casing and mention this to the seller, the seller maybe able to refuse the item back on the grounds that it was not received back in the condition it was sent.
You may need to open a paypal dispute, letting them decide the outcome if the seller and yourself cannot agree on a resolution0 -

Hi thanks for your advise,
The seller has now got back saying that he checked the item before he sent it and that he will not accept any returns.
The item had a few coverings of bubble wrap but wasn't secured properly in the box, even though he thinks writing 'fragile' on the box is enough!
I have replied stating that the item is not working so therefore he has to accept liability as it must have beem damaged in transit.
I have also said that I will start a dispute and give bad feedback if he doesn't give me a refund.
Surely he really doesn't expect us to accept a faulty item which cost more than £100???
The mind boggles...

I wouldn't argue with the seller anymore. Open a dispute and let Paypal sort it out. You will have to return the item (at your cost) using a method that can be tracked online (sorry can't remember what it's called) and Paypal will then issue the refund.
Also in the future should you have any problems don't mention leaving bad feedback. You can be reported for feedback extortion.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Was thinking the same when I read the post
If paypal find in your favour
For an item of that value you would need to use a service like special delivery or parcelforce 24/480 -
Hi, yes sad business really. I suspect he is trying it on though judging from his last email.
I'm surprised he didn't send it by special delivery, that way he'd be covered if any damaged occured...
My first 'bad experience'!!
I have been onto Paypal, would have liked to be covered for return delivery but I suppose a broken mixer in his hands is better than in ours!
Thanks for your advice folks!

Special delivery!Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

Have to agree here. Recorded delivery is only covered up to £39 for compensation. You say the item is worth £100+, so Special is definitely the best option. Either that, or courier might be a plan, depending on how much it would cost you to post it via RM.VanyaHargreeves wrote: »Special delivery!
Best to be sure you're covered properly, just in case your seller tries to say they didn't receive or that they received damaged etc.0
