A & L refused my application for Direct ISA

I was hoping to transfer my Intelligent Finance ISA's, to A & L Direct ISA. and add more to the account in the new tax year.
But I received the reply from A & L that unfortunately after checking with Experian, they couldn't do this and enclosed a standard letter talking about money laundering!
I thought there most be something wrong so I sent off for a credit report and there's nothing on it, it's excellent.
Does anyone why this should happen. I've no debts, never been in arrears, on electoral roll, lived in the house over 20 years etc.
My husband's application was accepted -why not mine?

I agree with grumbler: ask A&L for a re-think. Maybe there was a data entry error?Mortgage at outset (May 2004): £80,000
Mortgage now (October 2007): £58,000
Original mortgage-free date: May 2024
Expected mortgage-free date: December 2014
Projected interest saving: £21,1000 -
can you transfer a tessa isa to a new provider0

Some financial service organisations use the credit reference agencies to help confirm your identity and satisfy money laundering regulations. But I didn't think they simply refused applications if the agencies are unable to confirm your ID based on the information they hold and the information you provided on your application. My understanding is that, in such cases, the financial organisation should just ask for further proofs of ID. I would get back in touch with them and query this.“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I successfully applied for the A&L ISA last month. My boyfriend applied a few weeks back and has now been asked to supply two certified forms of ID. I'm not sure why you haven't been asked for these.
It's a pain in the butt but he'll be better off when the application is completed...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
