Fuji repairs

Can anyone suggest a camera repairer for my Fuji S9500apart from Fuji or has it got to be them? The command control has failed and Fuji want nearly £100 to fix it.

Yes and the ones I phoned or emailed said they send the camera to be repaired by Fuji.

It's the old story, things are made by robots tended by people who work for a pinch of rice a day so cost £150.

When it goes wrong it needs to be repaired by an expert in Bedford who earns £35k a year so any repair costs £100+

The best idea, galling as it is, is to drop it in the bin and buy a new one thereby doing your bit to get the economy moving again

    How old is the camera?

Fuji have a one g'tee [I think], and also do a five year one, which cost me around £80 2 years ago, too late now of course, but for any other owners reading it is very good, my S7000 was repaired & returned in 4 days. No connection just a satisfied customer
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Obviously it would not be possible to claim for a damaged camera on your house contents insurance ;-)

    Cheers!

They are holding their value somewhat so while I would usually agree, this time it is worth repairing. The camera is in pristine condition apart from this fault and works on automatic as it should. Fuji want £90 to fix it - I was hoping to find someone who can fix it for a little less.
Ican get a used one for about £120 but it would be "used".

I was also happy with the Fuji repair service when my camera's charger failed though again was under guarantee.

If the camera is over a year old but still not too old may be worth trying the retailer under the SOGA

It is about three years old. If I had taken the 2 year warranty extension I would be just out of it

Looking at the fuji shop they are doing refurbed (often brand new in practice) S2000 and 8100 for £135, given this it hardly seems worth paying £100 on a repair.

The SOG idea might be worth perusing assuming it failed rather than you breaking it

Yes except the S100 is the newer version of the S9500/9600 and that comes in fairly costly even in refurb. So to get similar would be a lot more than the £100 repair tag.
