New Sky Card

My daughter has received her 2 new cards for her HD box and normal sky box which are still under contract. When the engineer installed her boxes at her new address, he put in 2 cables for the sky box as he was told by sky it was a sky+ box.
As there was a sky+ box at her new address which she did give it to me. She now has swapped the boxes so that she now has HD and sky+ at her new address and she has given me the sky box which is still under contract with the existing card. At the moment the card is working at my address which is where it was originally installed in Feb. I currently have it connected to the phone line, obviously at some point sky will switch this card off, so will it revert to a FTV card or will it be totally de-activated?0 -
So you're using one of her old cards that she's had replaced?Dave. :wave:0

FIVE can be added manually into 'Other Channels.'
The viewing card also gives you Setanta Sports News (418) and of course the +1 versions of Fiver & Five US.0 -

Yes I am now using the sky box which was set up at this address in Feb with the card that came with it, so they are married up. My daughter is now using the HD box which was set up at this address and that she had transferred to her new address and an old sky+ box that her boyfriend already had. So she has put the 2 new cards in the HD box and the sky+ boxes.
Technically the sky box I have is still in contract, but the 2 boxes at my daughter's new address have the new cards in them and are connected to the phone line, so complying with Sky's t & c, as she is paying for multiroom.
I will be happy with my card being converted to a FTV card as long as I don't have to pay £20 for it. I don't know whether to contact sky or just wait until my card is cut off.
UPDATE: The new card is not working in the sky+ box, so my daughter is going to phone sky, I told her to ask sky to convert my card to a FTV card.0 -
Daughter phoned sky to activate her new card in the old sky+ box, now on my box I cannot get C5, IT SAYS CALL 08442 TO UPGRADE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO RECEIVE THIS CHANNEL. but I can still get the paid channels SKY1 etc. How can I get C5 back, without losing the other channels?0

It doesn't really make sanse why you can get Sky1 but not C5.
You can add it manually in the mean time by doing this -
Go to 'Services', 'Add Channels' and type in the following :
Frequency :10773
Polarity : H (Horizontal)
Symbol Rate : 22000
FEC : 5/6
The issue here is that you will have to go to 'Other Channels' to watch anything on C5.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks I already know about adding it manually, I was hoping that I would not have to. Now the paid channels have gone, looks like they have de-activated the card rather than transfer it to FTV.0

Now the message about inserting your new card, pops up every minute after you press back up to clear it, so I have had to take the card out, otherwise you can't see the full screen without the message across the middle of it.0

My daughter has finally got SKY to marry the new card up to the Sky+ box properly. I had to take the old card out of my box as the message was coming on every 30 seconds. I put the old card back in the box about an hour ago (this is the box it was married up to in Feb when installed by Sky) and the message has not come on. I do have the box connected to the phone line, Channel 5 is not working, I'm hoping it will come alive within 72 hours, as the message on C5 says CALL 08442 TO UPGRADE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO RECEIVE THIS CHANNEL.
Update, 3 hours later the message came back about inserting the new card. I did a software upgrade and a new install, now it says "The viewing card is not authorised, call the broadcaster for assistance"0 -
After I did a back up and software update, the message changed to "this card is not authorised" when trying 105 and the message "Insert your new card" still keeps coming every 30 seconds.
As I can't watch with the viewing card inserted, I phoned Sky, an Indian woman did not have a clue what I was trying to do. I phoned Freesatfromsky and a Scottish guy was more helpful, he said that as my daughter was using the 2 new cards, that the old one is not dead yet as I have lost C5 but will be over the next few weeks when the regional BBC and ITV channels will go. He said I could not get the old card reactivated as a free to view card and that I would have to pay £20 for a new card if I wanted C5 etc. He also said that it was C5's decision whether they will go FTA rather than FTV and not Sky's decision.
I'm not doing that, I've added it in other channels and unplugged the phoneline.0
