    Stronghold/Revolution
I'm trying to work out the differences between the top three - Frontline, Advantage/Advocate (same company I think?) & Stronghold/Revolution (same product I think?)

    http://frontline.us.merial.com/products/index.asp

    Frontline - normal
Works on cat instantly, just treats fleas & ticks, does not last.
    Frontline Combo/Plus
As Frontline, but lasts on the animal a full month. Sure I heard it treats the home as well as the hairs & skin cells that drop off the cat have it on & it treats everywhere, Not sure if it enters the bloodstream to do this???

    Advantage -
    http://www.animalhealth.bayerhealthcare.com/491.0.html?no_cache=1&tx_bahprdmx_pi1[tx_bahprdmx_prods.trademark]=ADVANTAGE http://advantage.petparents.com//aboutAdvantage.cfm
Treats fleas & ticks (as Frontline) but also treats worms & ear mites
    Advocate -
    http://www.advocate-spot-on.com/
As advantage, but also contains an extra active ingrediant, what does this do??? (Is it something that works like Frontline Combo & works on the lava/egg stage?).

Stronghold (Think this is also called Revolution around the world)
    http://www.revolution4cats.com/default.aspx?sec=Product%20Overview
I think this is similar to Advocate - it says it enters the bloodstream & works on fleas, ear mites & worms.

Something I found about flea treatments on the web
    http://www.kill-fleas.co.uk/treating.htm

This is for dogs, but its talks about the products & the makers
    http://hubpages.com/hub/Pet_Tips_for_Dog_Owners__Comparing_Flea_and_Tick_Prevention

Be grateful if others can explain any difference I've left out, as I'm sure others are as confused by it as me!

I use Frontline on my cats. I also use this http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_419&products_id=677 on my home once a year, just before we go on holiday as the cats go to the cattery and I don't want the house overrun when we get home, plus it has the added bonus of killing house dust mites.

I use Frontline, but I've used Advantage too, I seem to remember.
I also use Frontline on the dog.
I also have a pet 'Robicomb' type thing - an electronic zapper comb. I use it to check through them in between times if I suspect unwelcome visitors.
I don't treat the house - I'd be too nervous that I would poison everyone.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I've read ZODIAC flea collars are susposed to be good.

    They are about £8 each.

Do you think its a good idea to use a flea collar AND monthly spot treatment?

I use Frontline - there's no chance i'd ever get a flea collar on suzie - she'd sooner rip my fingers off than let me near her with a collar lol!!

A good flea collar, changed regularly. Has to have a bell too, avoids unwanted gifts!!

we have been using frontline combo for the dog but reading the other thread going to change to stronghold, now just the hassle of finding a vet that sells it as our only does frontline for dogs, but quite a selection for cats....
