Reinstalled XP, now speakers aren't working!

I just wiped everything and reinstalled windows as it was all going to pot. Now the comp can't find my speakers. I've tried going to the sound and audio devices properties screen, and it just says "no audio device" and everything is greyed out. I have creative inspire speakers, and afaik there was no disc with the speakers, they were just plug and play.

When you go to device manager are there yellow exclamtion marks or question marks next to sound devices0

Nope, nothing like that, but the only devices found are:
PHILIPS DVDR
Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Video Codecs
All of them have the speaker icon beside them iyswim, apart from the first as it's my DVD-Rom drive, so has the DVD drive icon beside it."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Did you download the sound drivers from the motherboard manf website0

You need the drivers for your computer
Simplest thing to try is goto WINDOWS UPDATES and goto CUSTOM then see if theres any HARDWARE drivers for download:idea:0 -

Gone into device manager and my speakers aren't listed under sound, video and game controllers, does that mean that the comp hasn't actually found the speakers?"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Speakers wont be listed. Only the sound drivers will be
Did you try the windows update method?:idea:0
