in Credit cards
Hi all. Just wondering if you could help me decide what to do here. This is the situation:
MBNA bmi Amex: Limit = £1000, Balance ~ £800 at 0% - promotional rate ending in June.
Barclaycard Student Mastercard: Limit = £600, balance = almost maxed out at 14.9%
I have tried applying for new 0% cards and low rate life of balance cards but I am getting declined for everything. Credit rating is ok but I think the problem is I am not currently in any kind of employment, just living off student loan. I've got about £400 in spare cash that I can use to pay off some debt on one of them. What do you all recommend? I think the rate on the amex will also be 14.9% after June. Is it worth calling either of them to see if they have any offers for me? If not, which one should I pay my extra cash onto? I have heard of mbna putting their standard rate up for certain people. Should I be worried about this?

I think you should be worried - MBNA will put you on a commercial rate when your promotional offer finishes.
You need to get a job quickly (or find a way to raise cash which does not involve applying for more cards - your credit files look knackered to me and applying for more credit will make it worse) any job even if it involves working at Macdonalds etc.0
