Without wanting to pry into what are probably personal and private circumstances, should your ex-partner not be figuring in all this with some assistance?

    In the shortest possible story,
My ex is an obsessive control freak, and not a very nice person,
When I decided to leave he made sure that if I was going to have as tougher time as possible, he made me quit my job when my son was born and has now made damn sure I won't get work anywhere localy by bad mouthing me and making up lies about me.
He also distroyed all of my belonging including clothes and everything personal, even my child's things!
He made it so that when I left I left with nothing, which I guess is meant to be punishment.

The child benifit people insist on persuing csa, but I very much doubt they will get anywhere,
My ex will probably deny he is his father, which frankly is fine by me, I don't want him thinking he has any clame on my child.

Everything is made much harder by the fact that I don't have much family or many friends, since I've been a 'house wife' for almost two years I lost touch with all of my friends, and I never really had a very big family.

    So thas basically it.
Its just really me and my son,
all I want to do is make a good home and life for him to grow up happy.

Credit Union is the way to go; your local library or council office will have details. You will not be ripped off and you will be among friendly people in a similar position to you.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

metal, do you have contact details for women's aid? sounds to me like you are getting out of an abusive relationship and can use their help, both practically and emotionally.

there is also a useful guide here which tells you about community care grants and the furniture reuse netowrk. both may be useful.

Can you not apply for a Community Care Grant?

Chances are, you will qualify for it, and as long as you are realistic with the amounts you list for what you need, you should be able to get most of what you need, either new or second hand.

I'm so sorry you've been left in such a miserable situation :( I don't know where you are but I have some furniture in my garage that I was going to freecycle (including sofa, chair, some units, rugs). I could deliver to you, if you are not too far. PM me if you like :)

I was hoping to borrow around £2000.
£1000 to get furniture, electricals and my house sorted,
and £1000 to have behind me for financial support, and to pay off all the money I owe to friends and family.

I already received a loan from the job centre, it was the reason I began claming income support in the first place.
Basically I was homeless after the break dowm of my marrage and because I didn't have my own money I had no way of finding the money for a deposit for a house, I couldn't even get a loan because I didn't have a bank account or any credit.
so after speaking to various people the job centre offered me a loan to get me sorted.

A friend refered me to freecycle, but the one where I live is pretty poor, and it won't let me join another near by group.

Its really awful but my husband basically made sure I have nothing,
I have lost everything and he has even made sure I lost any chance of getting work where I live as well.

What is the credit union? I never heard of that.

    That's for all your help.

Do not think of borrowing an extra £1000 to "have financial support behind you", as this is not having financial support behind you but more debt you will have to repay. As other people have said look to Freecycle and/or a community care grant for help.
