I'm looking for the cheapest 42" inch TV (its for DDs bedroom & she wants a 42").
Tesco have one for £400

Is this the cheapest?
This comes with a free sky+HD box (unless you already have one:rolleyes:, then you can't have the "free" box:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:).

Yes, that is cheap!
The cheapest 42" on ebuyer is a Foehn & Hirsch (ebuyer 'own brand') for £500. I don't know what that model is like, but I do know that the £130 F&H 19" I bought and subsequently returned was vastly inferior to the Sharp I replaced it with for only another £20 (from Richer Sounds).
What I'm saying is that the Technika might be great, but I would recommend at least trying to see one in the flesh.
Have you got a Richer Sounds near you? Their website is currently advertising a Hitachi 42" for £500, which allegedly has a list price of £1500 - might be worth a look.
Cheers

I have, but I hate pushing it to £400, much less £500.
Its a birthday present & I thought they might get more reasonable as she got older:eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -

Well at least she can't blame you if she doesn't like it!She's asked for a 42"
I showed her the Richer Sounds one & asked if she wanted to put the extra £100 to it & she said no:rolleyes:
There's another thread that about this TV - poster said the picture looks good in the shop, so perhaps I just worry too much. Having said that, the picture on the 19" F&H I returned was fine, but the sound was awful - and that was compared with the old £50 15" Alba that it was supposed to replace (sorry I'll shut up now

MrsE - please could you give us a mini review of the TV after you've seen it in action? I would be interested to hear whether you think it is the bargain it appears to be (I hope so!).
Cheers

How big is her room!!!!! 42" screen is very large, the average for a normal sized living room is 32". The problem is, if you have to sit close to it then the picture will look awful, also it will be like watching a game of tennis, forever moving your head from side to side to see the picture!!!!
Perhaps she could measure the distance from where she will be watching it from (between her and the TV) then go to a shop and start to watch a 42" from that distance, I think she might change her mind about it.0 -

It will be on the wall at the end of her bed. So bed 6 & a half food, then about 3 & a half foof more. So 10 foot wide room & her head will be about 9 foot from the screen.
We watch out 42 in the living room from about 9 foot.
Good point though:D0
