- Set up internet banking so that I can keep a very close eye on my incomings and outgoings.
- Cancelled a couple of old/unnecessary direct debits
- Added up all my direct debits & standing orders so that I know exactly how much goes out of the account each month and how much is left to spend on food/ents etc. Think I finally understand my financial situation0 -
Cool thread!
Rang NTL, (from work!), and cut our monthly bill by £6.50 a month thus saving us £78 a year!
All those pennies do help!
Good luck everyone

I walked home from work a different way so that I missed the usual "cashpoint-and-Sainsburys-for-a-ready-meal-and-Friday-night-bottle-of-wine" route. Came straight home, made a cup of tea and made my own dinner with what was left in the fridge (weekly shop tomorrow).
Saved myself about a tenner. Gained an air of smugness! :j:eek: What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
I have finally bought a new mobile phone!
It wasn't done lightly - I waited till the one I've had for at least five years (before that it was my Dad's!) started to die and I've spent a couple of months choosing one I will love.
I eventually pinned down the right price and the right tariff and used coupons to take the price down a bit more - but I'm actually happiest about the fact that I made the decision finally and just got it!
(I'd like to thank the Goals this week thread at this point because doing that prompted me to list this as a goal this week and so I got it done!)Do I Need One Stops All Unnecessary Reckless Spending£2 CSC - £30 :kisses3:0 -
I don't know if this counts but today I knew I was going to have to pay for MOT. I had budgeted £50.
The MOT was £44 and it passed so no extra spends (hoooray). I was going to withdraw £50 from the cash machine and get the £6 change for myself for the cinema tonight.
However I talked myself out of it and paid by Switch the exact £44 and will take the money for the cinema out of my £2 savings club. So I have avoided the overdraft becoming £6 deeper.
Does that count? I was proud of myself for talking myself out of it and decided that is what the £2 savings is there for (for me anyway...I guess everyone is saving for different purposes).Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Today I hassled the employment tribunal service for the decision on my unpaid wages case, chased up some money owed for work done through my business, and used an OS recipe to make bread & butter pudding as a treat, saving me money and using up a few things lying around the house. (I'm still doing the February "use up month" challenge - never realised I had so much stuff to use up!! :-O lol). I replied to a letter from Royal Mail about a compensation claim for a missing eBay parcel I was due to receive.
Tonight I'm going to watch the latest Star Gate DVD whilst ironing until the wee hours of the morning and prepare a list of things for eBay.
Stargate - woo hooo... I just don't have any of the vids or dvd's!!0 -

It wasn't that he didn't think it was a good idea he just takes forever to get round to things. Does anyone else find it as frustrating as me to have joint responsibility for paying all the bills but then not be able to talk to people about them because its his name on tha account
I personally HATE it...we are married for goodness sake!!!
Anyway to get round this my DH has set up passwords for me on the accounts so I can ring them and sort stuff out. Is this possible for you?0
