Hello everyone
Following on from my 'Can I clear a debt a month?' post, I feel that I am not getting very far at the moment. I didn't clear a debt last month and I won't this month unless my car sells soon.
So I decided to take at least one positive step towards clearing my debt everyday. I have therefore started this thread (similar to the 'How much have you spend today?' threads) so that people can say everyday what they have done to get help get themselves debt free on that particular day.
An example of this could be listing something to sell on Ebay, paying off some more money from a credit card, cutting back on something, going into a shop and resisting buying that item you wanted, making a saving somewhere etc etc.
Today, I have sold a TV/DVD player that I won in a competition for £60 - tomorrow I am going to put the money straight into my account and pay some more off my Capital One credit card. There is my positive step for today and I am glad that it is here in black and white so I can come back and look at what great things I have done when I am feeling unmotivated and low.
Give it a try, it does make you feel better.
Best wishes everyone.

Great idea!
Today I called Anglian Water to change the bill over to my name (husband and I are separating and he's moving out). I also asked them for a Direct Debit form, and for water meter info.
I paid the leccy bill - yay! Also managed to pay an extra £50 off my Dorothy Perkins account card - double yay!
I put in my clock card for the four hours of overtime that I did on Saturday, just in time to catch the cut-off date for March's wages. That's going to come off my Next catalogue account when I get it.
Finally, I put together a monthly expenditure spreadsheet. I've had a busy dayI was cut out to be rich, but got sewn up wrong.0 -

The money I transferred out of my PayPal account last week (from eBay sales) arrived in my bank account today, & I transferred it to a credit card straight away, so that is another £95 off my debts :jHighest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300Debt Free - August 2006!!

:j Hi everyone,
Great thread Emily!
Today I sold a jacket on ebay for £10 (not bad as I only put it on for 99p!), calculated my march grocery spend to date - still under budget at the mo & had my first no spend day in ages. Little steps I know but they make me feel good.x

Well I am going to the cinema later using my unlimited card, so no cost there...
I posted a letter off to Barclays to ask for the last 6 years worth of statements with the eventual aim of recouping the bank charges applied to my account...
Was thinking about a takeaway for later, but decided to save my pennies for something more useful... clearing my big fat debt!
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
I managed to do my (fairly regular) 320 mile trip in the car without spending anything in the motorway services. I've struggled with this one for a while but have finally cracked it and found the motivation (or determination?) from somewhere, this is the third time I've managed in a row! Very much enjoyed my home made pasta salad, apple and some orange juice (as opposed to the usual kfc, coffee and chocolate).
It might not sound like a big thing but it is for me  :j
Also yesterday I finally got round to opening a second account with ING direct and registering for gross interest on it, now I have somewhere to put my £2 coin savings!!

I didn't go to Mc Donalds for my dinner today ( which is really hard I work next door to it) Instead I went home and had beans on toast and spent no money at all.0

Great thread . I went to Sainsbury's and am still managing to stick with cash rather than cc. Bought loads of stuff for £66. 30 (whereas I'd previously have spent several hundred on a "big" shop )which should last a few weeks plus some extra veggies and milk. Also got a £20 refund from water rates but haven't yet put it into my savings account.
