My positive step today was to downgrade my Natwest Advantage Gold account to a normal current account saving me £10 a month - the banker (ha ha) tried to talk me out of it by showing the 'benefits' but I can find everything cheaper on the net!

    £10 a month is £10 a month :0)

Ive paid £100 off my Amex blue card as I had no council tax payment to make this month.
I would have really really liked to spend it but I have to be strong.
Its good to have the debt reducing.
I dont normally have any spare money to pay to my debt.

Put £1.50 aside for an emergency bus fare in case I forget to renew my travelcard. Those who read the 'How much have I spent?' thread will have seen the fiasco that I had this morning trying to get to work. I forgot to renew my pass last night and one of the many unnecessary things I had to do was to spend money in Coop so that I had coins rather than a note to give the bus driver.

Not a huge change, I admit, but I wouldn't have thought of this a week ago (hence the drama today!!!).

    What a great thread!

Today, I made a meal plan to take me to payday ( 30th March) based on what we have left in freezer and cuboards. Allowing £10.00 for a fruit and veg shop on weekend.

I have put myself down for overtime for the next 3 Saturdays  I'm regretting it already, but am trying to to think of the money!

I am also in process of writing a letter to close my barclays bank account- and chq to clear balance ( funded from previous o/time shifts!) I shall hand these in tomorrow!

Great thread - I've made some flapjacks, banana bread and scones so I don't spend any dosh on snacky stuff at work. Its my turn to take the goodies in tomorrow so instead of buying biccies and cakes, I've made them using stuff in the cupboard - no spend.

    Result!

Hi, and happy St Patrick's Day!

Well, I haven't taken any positive steps today (yet) apart from checking all my accounts. MY FP stakeholder is looking nice and healthy now the FTSE is going up again.

But my DH got his 4-weekly pension payment into his account this morning. And as he had nearly £200 left from the last 4 weeks, he's transferred £200 into his e-ISA. He told me with amazement: 'there's over £1600 in there now!' And he only opened that ISA on 5th August last.

If that isn't motivation I don't know what is - if a pensioner can do that then so could a lot of other people.

Finally (after about 8 weeks)nagged OH into calling Sky to cancel the multiroom sub which we never us, saving another £10 per month. It wasn't that he didn't think it was a good idea he just takes forever to get round to things. Does anyone else find it as frustrating as me to have joint responsibility for paying all the bills but then not be able to talk to people about them because its his name on tha account
