The 5 working days mentioned above is correct. Don't worry too much about it -you can give the DVLA a call on Tuesday. Advice from the DVLA website is detailed below:
'If the tax disc has not arrived after 5 working days, please telephone us between 8am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5.30pm Saturdays on 0870 850 4444. When you make the call, please have the Reference Number available and choose option 4 then option 1.'
(Sorry I am unable to post the link but this is on the website under common questions)
Average holding time for DVLA's 0870 number.... 24 minutes.. Average revenue per call ~£2.00.. DVLA's share of the interconnect fee ~50%.. revenue per call for Capita plc... ~£1.00
"Please hold.. Your call is important to us!!"0

The disc is for May start, bought it online on 20 April, arrived at address where car is registered about 27 April, then posted on to his temporary address the following day - it arrived after everyone had left that morning for work.
It hadnt arrived this morning at his place and he has already left for work. I am now beginning to panic in case he is stopped.
So the address the car is registered at is not the address the car is kept at? So it's probasbly not even technically insured (is this the address where the vehicle is kept on the insurance form).
I wouldnt care one jot, but you'll get the above post eventually.0

You are making lots of presumptions.
While I was temporarily staying at a friends' house my car was registered at a family member's house, and was insured to be left at both postcodes overnight.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I renewed online and got the disc, then a couple of weeks later I get another identical one!
What possibly computerisation error could have caused this who knows! If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?0

I had a reminder for a tax disc renewal in mid March but couldn't remember whether it was for my car or my husband's (and couldn't find reminder). Went out to check the cars on the driveway and my car's disc was showing expiry of September 2008! I checked the bank statements and knew I had taxed the car but couldn't understand what had happened - so wondered if it had been stolen? Anyway, went to the Post Office to get a form and the guy said 'it will cost £7 for a replacement, when is your renewal' - by this time it was about 5 days before I could apply for a new disc. So I decided to take a chance and wait another 5 days....
When I renewed my husband's disc the following month - guess what was behind his expired disc? My old one. So I'd driven around for 6 months not displaying at all - and I do about 10k miles.
If it doesn't turn up you can get a replacement for £7. Don't worry.Bern :j0

It tells you about the 5 days grace on the back of your present tax disc if you want to clarify the rules.0
