Great find, booked in at Manchester on 24th May.
I feel perfectly healthy but its always worth getting checked out, especially as its something so serious and its free.

I'm abit scared, how do they test me? I do suffer from palpitations and dizzy spells (Especially after showers which suggests it may be related to low blood pressure) but just wondering what the test will be?

    Kitty:

According to the site above, they simply connect you up to an ECG (electronic Heart Monitor).
It records the electrical activity of your heart.

    Hope this helps.

My son went in for this but he had to pay £30 for the ECG therefore it's not free.

I had my heart checked this past weekend. It was very quick and pain free. The doctor checked the ECG reading and my heart is fine :j but I would have rather known if it wasn't.

He said 4% of people will need further testing, which they can do on the same day.

Hi DG, can i just asked what clothing you had to remove? I'm wondering what to wear, thanks.
Best thing to wear is trousers/skirt and a top that's easy to remove. They'll need access to your ankles too so don't wear stocking.

You'll need to strip from the waist upwards, although if you have a dinky bra you may be able to keep that on (depends on the experience of the technician).

You have a electrode (sticker) placed on each wrist and ankle and six across you mid and left chest. Avoid putting any creams or lotions on your skin in these areas on the day of the test.

You don't feel anything and only take a few seconds. It helps if you relax your shoulders and elbows and stay nice and still, because it gives a better quality recording.

It is particulary recommended to be checked if you have family history, palpitations, fluttering in your chest, fainting or dizziness as someone mentioned earlier. Sometimes certain medications (anti psychotics) can put you at higher risk of a long QT to although if you take any of these your dr should be monitoring you anyway.

If you can't get to a screening and want to be checked out do please see your GP, many have their own ECG machines, or should be able to refer you for an ECG.

Terrific service-worth a journey/day out to get your kids screened by experts in that field.

Just mailed them to ask if they will screen my uber sporty13.5yr old. He is just below their age, bt most definately post pubertal (5'11'', sings bass!) . I would take DD1 (15) but he is the one that really needs it.
