As ever it all depends on what you want to pay. I had a windfall and decided to buy a Sony 40" to fix on a wall bracket. It has a very good picture the functions are easy to operate and seems so far to do everything you might expect from an HD telly. If I was going to get another I would go for a Panasonic, the picture quality is excellent but very much more expensive. They are most certainly coming down in price and about £300 a very good one can be bought. Sky are extending their HD package all the time so HAPPY VIEWING!.0

BTW I forgot mines a plasma, there is a lot of argument as to which is the best, trawl the net is my best answer to that one.0

How big do you want it, and whats your budget. Argos have some really good deals on 42 inch sets . If you want one thats going to last you a while, the Samsung 42" HD ready is a good buy £549.97. (It was £587.19!). Its got great reviews, so worth going for:

A cheaper version is the LG which also has good reviews at £499:

What ever you get, make sure it's 1080p (not 768/1080i) to make it future proof- don't be fooled by the 'HD ready' 768 line 'hi def'. 1080p will also be good for blu-ray, should/or when you decide to go for it ( I did - it's really worth it!)
...and then, as I've just commented on a previous post, make sure the LCD TV has a decent 'contrast ratio' spec - 10,000:1 or better is what you're after - some cheapos are as low as 1,200:1. You might as well not bother. Contrast ratio jis the difference between the brightest white image, and the darkest balck, meaning the higher this figure, the brighter and better defined the image.0 -
Check out this website http://www.whathifi.com/
it may even be worth posting a question in their forums with an indication of your budget and what size of screen you fancy.0 -
