Am i being lied to by CPW o2??
Hi everybody - im coming to the end of my o2 contract through CPW which has lasted 18 months. The last chequeback is to come with my sending of the last bill, in mid-may. The contract ends at the end of may, so i rang yesterday to cancel (i.e. 30 days notice) - they said that i could actually disconnect a lot quicker by changing my 35pounds a month contract to a pay as you go, and keep the number as a result.
They said also that id avoid paying the 50pounds for the month and a half left. But i told him i still have a final chequeback to come - he said this wont be affected.
But surely this does affect it and i wont get the chequeback? (which is to be 85 pounds approx) Because of the fact i need to keep on the same 35pound a month tariff in the t+c?
Can anyone confirm that this is the case or has anyone been offered similar terms? If it is relevant, i said i was moving out of the country as the reason for cancellation.
Thanks for your help

Find and read the relevant threads. There's tons about all this on those. Bottom line - don't trust what they say about the final claim and you have to give written notice to the Southampton address in those threads. Don't wait until the last 30 days and ignore totally what they (lie) tell you about requiring a "disconnection" number - it's total crap to try to stop you from leaving.0

Thanks for that - i spent a good amount of time yest reading the 14 or so pages of that thread.
It just occurred to me that there may be another option.
I am abroad at the moment, and obviously O2 will not take 30 days notice until they received my letter (which i am abt to send). The salesperson did suggest that they could put me on a 25pds /month contract but give me a credit of 300pds - so it'll be 'free' effectively and keep my number open and also if i need to use it on occasion. I can do this just by calling on the last day of the contract, no fuss with discon letters etc.
Has anybody else taken this option and are there any pitfalls??Profit from Matched Betting = £13,655
