Hi Katie - hope you had a good night out and got to bed OK.. :D

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 2nd May. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

    Morning OS chums!hi.gif

I am up bright and early again to meet up with Tristan. He emailed and should be here about 0500 so I got up about 15 mins ago and thought I would post here while I wait. Course, he might not be up to it, but I am here just in case.

hilstep - hope the day went well for you hon.
Beth - I do not think your posts are boring. Not in the least, in fact you are inspiring.
Csarina - hope your family are OK. I can't help feeling that the media are scare mongering just a tad. A school was closed in the local area as a girl had just come back from Mexico and was suspected of having swine flu and they interviewed 15 yr old healthy looking girls crying their eyes out saying they didn't want to catch it and die.. Seemed all wrong to me somehow that they should be so scared.
Moliere - Great to see you posting, we missed you!
Nic1 - keeping you all in my thoughts
Sunnygirl - Hope your father feels better soon hon, must be a worrying time for you
Hockey - So happy you have your keys!! You must be so happy
D&DD - sorry to hear about your FIL
Ravy - We had sunshine all day til about 1600 yesterday so it was a fab MayDay for us too!
sistercas - my fatcat is moulting like mad and has been for weeks so EVERYWHERE she sits is covered in ginger fur.

Gave away half a doz books on freecycle yesterday - really happy that someone wanted them.

Saw the dentist yesterday - have cracked a tooth so he put in a temporary filling for now.

I noticed my OH has been posting a little around the boards now he has finally found the right one. Hoping he might join us here. He cooked mussels for us last night - half price in Lidls apparently. They tasted a little too strongly of wine for me, but I did enjoy the garlic butter and the shells are so lovely I am putting them in the garden. Today will be frikadillen and mash and beans.

So far I have about 20 lettuces up and looking healthy and my first chilli seeds have germinated. Not the new ones I bought this year, or the ones I harvested myself, but old seeds dated 'plant before 2007' that I threw in without much hope! Thank you Sutton Seeds! Four of them are up and have two leaves while all the rest are still hiding under the soil! Was also given half a dozen shallot sets to plant out this weekend. Am going to use the spare potato planter sacks I have for them as I have run out of garden and tubs!

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day, and warm gentle grouphug.giffor anyone who wants or needs one.

    Morning Peeps

day off today :j i`m on my second cuppa so thought i would look in here to see who was up.:D The washing machine and dishwasher are on and both should be finished soon, the breadmaker and yogurt maker will take a little longer but they should all be finished before seven o clock.

Today i shall be taking Dad to the supermarket, we plan to be there as soon as it opens as today should be quite busy. I can`t stand it when its packed out, i worry about Dad getting knocked about a bit as he`s quite dodgy on his pins at the best of times. My shopping list is all done and i`m pleased to say that it`s quite small so fingers crossed thats all i buy :D
I failed the gc spectacularly last month so have to make up for it this time around.

Redruby - We had wedges with our pie yesterday - thankyou for suggesting them :D hope that you feel better today.

Scuzz - It was me that posted sausage and onion pie, i checked very carefully that it wasn`t apple as the label had dropped off in the freezer, i was convinced that it was sausage but after cooking it we discovered that it was chicken and mushroom:rotfl: good job i did the wedges that ruby suggested :D I know that there is a sausage and onion one lurking in the freezer somewhere.

Mioliere - its great to see you back, you have been missed very much.

Sunnygirl - ((((HUGS)))) for you and your Dad, hope everything is ok.

    Noahspennilessmummy - enjoy your break!

D&DD- ((((HUGS)))) hope that FIL is ok

    Hockyduo - congratulations, great news!

Taplady - Hope you feel better today

The birds are singing like mad but i`m not sure what the weather will be like today, hopefully dry so that the washing can go outside. I shall pop out shortly and top up the food on the bird table.

I am being stared at by 2 furry monsters :rotfl:one of which keeps having a very quiet whine, i gather that the houndies want to go to the park so i shall pop off and get my coat and boots on.

Tea tonight is lamb rogan josh & pilau rice and today will be mostly spent cleaning after the shopping is done :D

    Have a super Saturday everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Morning Chums blooming birds woke me this morning ,and once awake I can never get back off to sleep again.Mind you it is a beautiful morning so hopefully I will get a lot done. My nieces move has been cancelled as the owner hasn't yet done all the repairs to the house .Luckily she went to see it yesterday before signing her rental agreement, and there were still bare wires hanging out of the wall.So the move has been put on hold until things are sorted properly.Poor lass, her and the children were so looking forward to the move, but better safe than sorry.
So today I am at a bit of a loose end. I will do some baking and then see what the weather is like ,if it stays good then I may try to have a go at the pots in my garden. I can't do a lot as my joints don't bend like they did 40 odd years ago but I can sprinkle some seeds in the pots and see what comes up. no shopping to buy which is good and I need to update my freezer list to see whats still available in there. <<hugs to those who need one>> and I hope the rest of you have a happy and productive day.
    Cheers JackieO

Weather looks OK but cool. NO idea what to do today. Hens must be cleaned out, garden needs doing.... I have 15 baby chicks this hatching, so that went much better.

Have a nice day out there.

    Morning all

What a beautiful morning. Am having my first cup of the day whilst sitting on the patio listening to all the birds as I write. Rest of house still asleep so it is a lovely peaceful start before the madness begins!:D

Today will be more flat clearing and visits to charity shops with bags etc. I am putting a gammon joint in sc when I finish my coffee and will serve for tea with new pots and veg- am really going to try to get back to some form of normality today at least with our eating - I am so sick of make-do meals and takeaways:rolleyes:

Will strip our bed when hubbie gets up and get out on line before we go out. Should have lovely smelling sheets for tonight and a home cooked meal - oooooh cant wait!:j Funny how little things you normally take for granted can suddenly mean so much!!

Feel alot more cheerful today and positive! Hope you all have a lovely day. Hugs to all who need or want them

    Hi there folks.

Well the sun is shining and the world feels a nicer place when that happens.

Made a fantastic dinner last nite was really needed. Roast Chicken with roast tatties, carrots andonions. Making soup out of the carcass today along with Chicken Fajitas tonight. Also got twinks hobnobs done which are now a firm fav. Am doing millionaire shortbread, it always worked before but for some reason the base keeps coming out chewy. Am I using too much butter? I tried with stork last night and its still not right!!

Oh well today hopefully more baking and hopefully the sun will stay out for the littlies to play.

Hope you all have a good weekend. xxx
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:
