have a look at HFW's Landshare scheme - you can advertise on there and there is lots of useful advice if you search.

Allotments are hard to come by at the moment - we even have local councils advertising for land so that they can provide more where we are.

Speak with people at your local allotment - they may know people who are looking. Possibly even advertise at your local garden centre?

    Thanks for the info guys!!
  • Have you heard of rentmygarden? You can rent out your garden for various different uses, growing food, barbecue's, storage...
  • Certainly seems like something worth looking into, OP.
When I was much younger, my parents had a huge garden. They found an ad on a postcard in a shop window for a guy who wanted a garden to tend, and they agreed to just share the veg, rather than taking any rent.
Growing your own seems very popular nowadays, so I'm sure you'll find someone.

Can I ask when that was? They are very short in my area - most plots that come up are being split into 2 halves if possible.

Oh, and in my area you can now only sign up for 1 plot, our council rules changed within the last 2 years to remove the family / mini commercial business having 2/3/4 or even more plots when people are waiting.
