sell on ebay for someone to fix. asda do £20 phones
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

No offence, jago, and thank you for the suggestion but I do not want a £20 phone. I've had a touch screen phone for over a year and half now and I would not go back. I am using my back up phone at the moment which is a nokia flip one and it's driving me nuts!!

My P1i was my phone, my camera, my MP3 player and my diary + organiser. Now it's all gone! All I can do with the back up is call, text and take VGA quality photos. Arrrrrgh. The calender is a nightmare to add any reminders on (which i need or I would forget my own head). I want my P1i back :(

Try plugging in data transfer cable - will this power on the phone ?

Could it be a physical issue with the switch? Could you unscrew the casing and see if you can make sure the switch connection is being made?
    I think....

michaels, i think it could be an issue with the switch but i don't want to invalidate my insurance trying to check. I think the insurance will try and repair it before they replace?

As said before, plugging in with the USB cable to your computer should power it on. At least you should then be able to get stuff off the phone.
