    Personally I would rather have CASH in my hand than a bouncing cheque or a paypal chargeback (if thats what it is called).

    Each to their own I guess

    I also have only sold about 5 items in the past two years, I guess if you are selling items all the time it is different

    I have both sold and bought items and collected/allowed collection in person with no probs,I think in general it is safe to do this.Do you have time to ask the seller if this is okay to pick item up before the auction has ended?
