Please could someone advise me of the cheapest way of making a call from my mobile to a mobile back home in the UK while on holiday in the USA. Thank You.

There probably isn't really any cheap way as most of the UK providers don't have ties with networks over there, like they do in Europe.

Would you not be able to make it to pay phone or a computer? It'd so much much cheaper.

there isnt a cheap way of ringing from a uk mobile in the usa. The cheapest way is to set up a voip account such as voipcheap, then take a laptop and a usb phone with you to the usa, then when you want to ring home, find a wifi connection and ring via the voip provider. if you ring a landline it will be free and a mobile will be pence a minute.

You definitely do not want to roam on your UK mobile unless if it's tmobile. Tmobile rates to the UK from the US are 55p. Not really cheap but better than other UK providers.

Assuming your phone has the right bands, you can get a prepaid sim from Tuyo or tmobile US. They are cheaper on ebay. Tuyo only charges $0.20 or so to call back to the UK. The other US carriers charge upwards of $1. Both Tuyo and tmobile only charge $0.10 per txt international or not. So, that may be your best option.

Tuyo rates are here at Tuyo.com
