but what is the surcharge for? what does it cover?
Sounds like just a way of making money. I.e. please give us the old one so we can cash in on the value of it, otherwise we'll screw you over.

I thought £200 surcharge was a bit steep seeing that a new one costs £280!!! I might write to Peugeot...
  • Did the garage that replaced the exhaust tell you that you should return the original? If they didn't, tell them to foxtrot oscar.

They are quite a small garage with 3 employees and didn't know until Peugeot delivered the part to them, they were also shocked and tried to help me out by negotiating, but to no avail. If I told them I wasn't prepared to pay the surcharge I can imagine they'd then take the cat off again and replace the faulty one - I'm fed up with it all now anyway. Just have to hope that the rusty, holey £40 cat I got from the breakers will surfice. Can't believe I had to pay £40 from the breakers as it really is good for no-one. But hey, a lesson has been learnt!
  • Sorry something doesn't ring true about this. What you do with your old catalytic converter is nobody's business, and I see no reason why Peugeot would want the old one back - they don't even manufacture them. £200 also sounds very expensive for a 206.

I don't think the garage are quite telling the truth.

The garage are telling the truth as I phoned another Peugeot parts department (not the one they are dealing with) and they confirmed it. All we need is someone who works for Peugeot to come and contribute to this discussion...
