"UK Shipping to Mainland UK Only"

Am I missing something, or do eBay not have anything in place to stop someone who's registered address is not Mainland UK buying an item and completing the payment process with only standard shipping costs ?

People from Jersey seem to have a habit of not reading the T&C (where it clearly states "UK Shipping to UK Mainland only"), forgetting they blantantly live someone where standard shipping rates don't apply, and after payment avoiding their email account and numerous emails in the hope that you'll just send it.

I appreciate not many people read T&C, but I'm always left feeling like they're trying it on, and this leads to long delays in me dispatching their item.

I don't sell to Channels Islands very often, but I'm pretty sure when I have standard 1st/2nd class is the same price as mainland UK. I could be wrong its been a while.

I have had this problem too as couriers charge more for channel islands (not mainland uk), i always state on my listings now 'uk mainland only' and i add the price for channel islands and highlands.

i have a note saying - "UK Shipping to UK Mainland Only" in the T&C and then "Please enquire for international shipping costs before placing a bid" underneath the description.

its been 3 days now and 2 emails, and this buyer still hasn't gotten back to me. i'm tempted to refund them but then i risk losing my fee's.

well i finally decised to post this off by the cheapest means possible on Tuesday, having heard nothing back from 3 emails.

it had to go by standard parcels so will be another week before it arrives, and i explained this in my last email.

ironically they finally responded that evening, with just a quick "thanks for letting me know" email.

it will be almost 2 weeks since buying it when it arrives, i await any feedback.

Why not change your settings to UK only? Wouldn't that work?

I've not had a bidder from outside UK since I did that.

I couldn't do that as it would restrict my sales too much. But also, Jesery is UK, would using this setting make any difference ??

Normal standard size items are the same price as UK mainland. When you get on to much larger items then the price does increase, in my experience some courier companies are very reasonable others are basically "rip off" merchants you do have to shop around.

Jersey would be classed as Uk so you would not be able to block buyers from there.

ebay should really have something in place to address this (excuse the pun)

either that, or maybe there could be a leaflet go out to the people of jersey explaining that they are "overseas", as that water is the sea.
