my 12mth contract with bt ends 10th may , im on option 1 and paying £12.99 per mth . never had any problems with the bt hub , this is my 6th year with bt , any ideas what deal i should ask for , or is worth switching to a cheaper company. ie 02 or talk talk , i have a contract phone with 02 , if this would help .

From what I have seen lately both o2 and talk talk have good deals however I find if you ask Bt for your mac code it makes them pay attention and from another users post they got quite a good deal from it. I am an o2 mobile customer myself but I cant vouch for their bb as I have seen good and bad reviews

Personally if your happy with Bt and the service is good then try to get a good deal, I have been with them for 12 months and got my bb halved for the length of my new contract when i rang to say I was thinking of moving supplier, they can only say yay or nay......Good Luck

i was in the same boat.

check in your area to see if BT have enabled their 21cn or wbc, or call them up to find out. if it is enabled this means that you can get adsl2 with BT.

i did that, im getting 10mb with BT but had i gone to O2 or BE then im pretty sure i would get more as they use LLU instead of adsl. again check on their websites to see what speeds they can offer, but bare in mind that as you are still with BT on adsl O2 may not be able to show more than 8mb.

i was also very happy with BT thats why i stayed with them, they will offer you at least £5 discount for renewing.

but even if you go for O2 8mb with your O2 phone, you can get it for £7 which is probably what i would go for.

When I was looking to change BB providers from PlusNet I checked out both talk talk and o2. Talk Talk couldn't offer me their best deal because of exchange restrictions (or so they said) which meant paying increased prices for their service.
O2 claimed unlimited downloads (subject to fair usage policy) at up to 8 Mb for £7.50 a month for o2 mobile users, or £12.50 for anyone else. I had no contract but was (and still am) a PAYG o2 user. No contract = no problem. They needed only my mobile number to verify eligibility.
I signed up. O2 kept me well informed by text and email every step of the way. The package arrived when expected, installation was hassle free.
I did a broadband speed test - 7.5Mb. My "up to 8Mb" speed with Plusnet was only 3.5!
I have a home network of 5 computers all sharing the connection - teenagers huh! I have never received any communication from o2 regarding exceeding the fair usage policy, so it seems this policy is very generous.

I can't comment on Customer Service because I have never had a problem so have never needed them.

As for the cheap price - it's true. As a PAYG user I need only to have topped up £10 within the preceding 3 months from the date of the bill. This has no bearing on me at all since I usually top up a tenner every two months or so.

    My conclusion:
    Speed - excellent
    Quality of Service - excellent
    Price - excellent
Customer Service - unknown, but probably excellent

PS: Despite what I have written above I am NOT employed directly or indirectly by O2.:rotfl:

As you have an O2 contract and can get O2 LLU with £70 Quidco cashback, that is likely to be your best choice.

as im only getting 1.9mb with BT for £12.99 per mth , 02 seems to me the better option for price and broadband speed. i will see if BT will do a better deal , if not i will move on .
    thankyou

I had BT broadband and when the contract was up I switched to O2 broadband, it's cheaper, a million times better, faster, more reliable etc and I got £70 quidco cashback too.

BT didn't offer me any deals at all when I said I was moving, they just gave me my code and off I went.

I can't see why they wouldn't give it you. They gave me mine no problem at all. I said they didn't try to sell us anything but actually I think they did but i'd already made my mind up about moving to O2 so I was very firm and just kept saying no, I didn't have to argue to get the MAC code at all.

Just threaten them with OFCOM if they won't give it to you.

I've just left Sky as I've bought a Feesat box. As I've cancelled my Sky subscription I also lose my Sky broadband. So I was on the lookout for a new ISP. I'll called BT and explained this to them and also told them I was thinking about moving my phone and intertent to Talktalk's package. The fist salesperson I spoke to made no attempt to retain my contract. So after a few minutes I called back and spoke to another salesperson who transferred me to another team. Persistance does pay off. To cut a long story short, I've managed to get my current BT phone package of free evening and weekend calls, plus broadband of up to 8mb and a 20 gb download limit for £29/month. Seems like a reasonable deal to me!
