Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me. I am moving home and currently have Virgin phone and broadband. I am still within my initial contract period and have had good service so am not fussed on cancelling anyway.
My question is...can i get sky TV through with a Virgin phoneline? Or does it have to be BT?
Also, i would be interested in any opinions about which is preferrable...Virgin TV or Sky TV.
Thanks
Sam

Any phone line will do, your Virgin one will do fine.
Sky will wave this condition for an additional fee, not sure how much though.
You would only require a BT exchange line if you wanted Sky broadband. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
You need a BT line to get the free / low cost Sky broadband. For Sky telly any landline will do0

Seems to be an echo on the forum today:rotfl:That gum you like is coming back in style.0

My Sky box is not plugged into any line. We had problems with our phone and the BT engineer disconnected all the extra rooms leaving only the one entering the house. This meant the Sky box became disconnected.
When I recently had Sky Plus put in, the engineer from Sky just commented that I really needed to plug in back it some time. OK, I said and did nothing.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

Hi... You need to have any Sky Box in you home (including multi-room boxes) connected to a working phone line for the initial 12 months contract (this is because they automatically download information from the box like your viewing habits, normally in the middle of the night), or they say they will charge you, if they can't access your box.
Once this contract has finished, you can do what you like.
If you use the Interactive Services or Pay Per View Movies you must be connected to a working phone line.
As for which Is better Sky Or Virgin?
It really depends on what you like.
Sky has loads of channels and the Sky HD Channels are very good if you have an HD Ready TV, they also have loads more channels than Virgin.
Virgin have (I Think) about 165 channels (if you choose the XL Pack), and also let you access the BBCi Player and have a large library of On-Demand Programmes.
I would say "Go With SKY" And I'd recommend you try to get A Sky Plus HD "Samsung" Box (Ask the engineer for this make when they call you to confirm their visit),
A Good Plasma TV And A Good Surround Sound System, if you can afford them...
Good Luck....:rotfl:0 -

The additional fee is for having no phone line at all0
