Love the bedroom p vikki. Feeling a bit low today - had busy weekend so shattered today. Coming on here always cheers me up. I love all the ideas and the friendly banter on here. Keep it up everyone. Love and smilies x

    I hope you feel better.

I was given a huge boost by finding a colour chart of silks that I remember my mother aving in her handbag for seemingly ever when i was younger. Those tny squares of softly sheening brilliant colour were as uplifting now as they were when I was small. I remember being profoundly disappointing when my mother opted, ultimately, for a plain cream. I've been wondering if there is anything I can do with those tiny squares of silk. Too small for patchwork quilt but it would be glorious!

oh no, we don't have a wilkinsons on the isle of wight. what a shame. i'll prob be able to get to one when i go down west but thats not till oct. lets hope i can find one on ebay then. it is beautiful. would match perfectly. but thanks for that kandi .

The birds are indeed from Wilkos :) £1.50 for the one i got (small), bargain!! They also do larger ones for £3. And the lantern was £5 :)

You could order online and get it delivered if they deliver to IoW?

Thanks for all the comments :)

That napkin covered clock was the first thing ive used the napkins for, and luckily it didnt come out too wrinkly :) I just used some very watered down PVA and pasted a little onto the clock, and then stuck it on gently. Didnt put anymore glue over the top.

Love the buttons. My strongest buton memeory are the pink star buttons I had on my pink cardi. I wore it for ballet long after my class mates had moved on to proper wraparound cardigans In fact, I think the buttons were moved on to a new cardigan. I was lucky enough to have a mother who knitted, and I had beautiful cardigans with lovely novelty buttons, but those ink plastic stars: how I loved them! (even though they dug in a bit when I did somersaults!).

Odd decorative bits we uncovered this weekend are my life sized wooden parrots. I plan to ut them in a tree in the summer.....I doubt they'll fool anybody though. And a beautiful section of a small haywain or cart. Just one side....so beautiful...I need to think of something to do with it.

There is a breeze block wall in the new garden that has to stay. But I can paint it. The house is part rendered and part very old red brick. I want the breeze block wall to ''disappear'' and will be planting climbers over it to help, but colour ideas would be welcomed. I think creams etc will stand out too much....trying to match a tone to some of the red brick might be fraught with danger and disappointment......

How about painting the breeze block wall a sort of National Trust green, IYSWIM?
It's a sort of a muted sage green, and would be "gardeney" until you can get plants growing without clashing with the bricks.

    I've found it!!!

Turns out it is F&B and actually is part of the NT range!

That sort of green is a good option. :) I almost feel like looking into ragging/sponging or something, to make a less solid colour though. It might be all too much effort for a garden wall...its a serious length...about 50 feet or something.

I had also thought of a brown r a grey ish colour....but think brown might be too dark and grey to dull in winter.

Thinking along the lines of the brick I'm toying with something like the F&B dead salmos, or dead trout. They look very different on my monitor than on the card though.

Just thought I'd share this: My former neighbour opposite had a breeze block wall built (to secure garden for children) and painted it red:eek: It was so awful it became a landmark, I remember a new accquaintance saying to me 'Oh you must live opposite the red wall'. Fortunately subsequent owner removed it and replaced with a wooden fence which has weathered and plants grown up to soften it.

I'd definitely go for the NT green idea and get those climbers planted PDQ:D

Loving this thread, so inspiring and a lovely atmosphere. And don't ever apologise for too many photos, that's the best bit.

    .

    LOL, point taken!

Its the back of what will be our stables, so I feel quite fond of it, but not how it looks. We are talking one day of facing two other sides with brick if we can afford it, and timber if we cannot, but the back will probably have to stay and be hidden with planting.

What a bargain that table was (sorry, I've forgot your name):o.

Well, my sander from Amazon arrived this afternoon :j I really wanted to get started on the table and chairs with it, but it's raining :(. Hoping it'll be a nice day tomorrow, though :)
