How do I move the bottom task bar

I am not too keen on my new wide screen monitor preferring the old (now bust) square format. So I was going to move the bottom task bar to the side but I can't shift it. I have tried with it locked and unlocked - grabbing with the mouse and dragging to the side but no go?

Any thoughts?

Why not set it to auto hide?

I just unlocked mine and dragged it to the side with the mouse and back again so it must be possible, what OS do you have?

Is this Vista, XP or something else?

I just tried both Vista and XP and so long as it isn't locked a simple click and drag works just fine for me.

Good thought but that may not suit the way I work. Dipping in and out of many different apps so would slow me down. But I will give it a go.

Vista and something I have done in the past but on my XP PCs. Is my PC being bl**dy awkward today?

Just tried it but no really for me but thanks again for suggesting. I may try a restart when I have done some work I am in the middle of.

Just re-started but still not doing it for me.

Yet on another PC with XP I can move it top, bottom or either side with no problems?

If Bill's minions say it can be done then it must be so :p -
    Unlock and move the taskbar

Seems this might be a problem with quick launch, disable quick launch and try again
