Possible MOT Problem-how to find out if it exists?

Those are pretty good suggestions IMO, probably the simplest way to cover yourself until you can get an MOT and Tax sorted out.

From my DVLA days, I seem to recall that you can generally get away without taxing for a couple of weeks after it's due without any major repercussions, but, big warning, it is 10 years since my DVLA days so they may well have tightened up how much lee way they're willing to give on these kinds of things in the mean time.

Still, all in all I'd say it's safer to keep the car off the road as much as possible until you've got it's MOT & tax.

Try and get an "MOT while you wait" there are some around still. Your tax is valid from the day you apply for it online but the post office will issue the actual tax disc today or tomorrow(Saturday morning).

If you can do none of these then SORN it and get it off the road as the £80.00 fines are sent out automatically from the DVLA database.

After touting the car round loads of garages today on the offchance of getting it in somewhere, it's in getting MOT'd right at this minute. Fingers crossed it wont fail otherwise we'll be back to square one. PO closes at 5.30 so wont be able to tax it today anyway, will have to be first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks again.
