Out of curiosity, as I'm not sure if I will get broadband yet...
What's the cheapest provider who dont put a fair use policy on it?

I've been with AOL (1mbps) for the last month or 2, and have had no problems at all.
They have an offer where you pay £14.99 for the 1st 6 months (I think), and after that you have to pay £17.99.
However, when I called them up, they offered me £15.99 per month for 12 months, which works out a bit cheaper. Plus it continues at £15.99 after the 1st 12 months, whereas the offer above continues at £17.99.
It's also completely unlimited, if thats important to you.
I know Toucan have a slightly better offer (although they do have a fair usage policy), and I originally chose them, but I had a lot of problems with them before I even got connected, and I found their customer services to be the most unprofessional bunch I've ever come across! (and I've dealt with some bad ones in my time!). Hence I cancelled just in time and went with AOL!
Don't regret my decision for one second, and am very happy with the price.0 -
i would be pretty sure every ISP has an FUP with their broadband products0

I can't see that there will be any truly unlimited packages soon as there are so many people connecting and only so much bandwidth to go around. In all honesty, unless you do an excessive amount of linux iso downloading or p2p(cough cough) there really is no need for unlimited. If you look at the straw poll on this site you will see over 50% use less than 10gig per month.

I know you asked for a company without a FUP, but the Tiscali policy (when it works) is pretty good. You are only asked to restrict downloads to off peak hours (outside 18:00 to 23:00). No limits whatsoever outside this period. If you continue to download heavily between these hours, you get put on a 'Bad Boy Pipe' - sharing capacity at peak times with other heavy users. £14.99 1Meg, £17.00 2 meg.0

Seconding what dk143 said. I'm a long-term AOL User (10 years this year) and I've had nary a problem with them.
It's truly unlimited, 24/7 and over the whole time I've been with them, I can't remember any period of "down time" because of them.0 -
Peter the Piper, I like to do a lot of downloading. Most probably more than 10gb per month to be honest, so really need unlimited, or perhaps 20gb per month :-)0

Look at Newnet for one http://www.newnet.co.uk/broadband/home_s.php This gives you what you are asking for at a reasonable price.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
