Ebay / PayPal Advice

Hi,

I was hoping that someone here will be able to give me some advice. I think I've done something really silly and am not sure if I can get my money back now!

I saw a phone on ebay read the sellers description where he said send me an email if you're interested etc... so I sent him a message on ebay and he later sent me a paypal invoice for the phone.

I paid the invoice on Sunday and have received nothing so far, despite the seller saying it would be sent using special delivery on Monday. I have tried to call the seller using the number listed in his paypal account but keep getting... it has not been possible to connect your call... and have had no response to emails.

What is my best course of action? should I complain to PayPal or wait a little longer for the buyer?

Think you have to leave it 15 day before opening a complaint.

What was his ebay rep like ?
  • He is a new user on ebay with a positive feedback of 1.

I wouldnt have delt with him on that rep, not to say he isnt genuine though we all had to start from 0 rep at one time.

I would give it a few more days and drop the seller another email.

I think you can still claim via PP in the same way, but you should never ever deal off Ebay.

you will still be able to open a paypal claim, if he said you should get it by tuesday and it's not here by friday and he is not replying to you open a paypal dispute as you are at risk of being conned here, dont pannick though just open the dispute to try and get a response, dont escalate it straight to a claim
he might just not be very organised due to being a new user.
  • Hey everyone thanks for the helpful replys, I have been trying his no. all day today and finally managed to get through to him.

Unfortunately he said that he has been suspended from his PayPal account and that he can't get money out of his account and won't be sending any items out until he can take money from his PayPal account. He said if I wanted my money back I should talk to PayPal as he hasn't got access to his account!!

I'm thinking this all sounds very fishy, would it be best for me to raise a PayPal claim now (I know someone said I might have to wait 15 days before raising one) I have also read in a number of places about getting your credit card company to do a chargeback. Which route would you all recommend I go the PayPal or Credit card route?

Thanks again for all the info and help.
  • If possible raise a Paypal dispute first or as soon as you are allowed to. Also might be worth giving Paypal a call.

The thing that concerns me is why is he suspended from his PayPal account!
