Iphone on another network?

Hi, I'd like to get an Iphone, but I have a really sweet contract with T-Mobile (£20 a month sim only - unlimited texts, unlimited internet, plus 500 minutes) and I don't want to lose it.

I used to have a Nokia N95 but dropped it in a puddle by accident. Thankfully my insurance company are going to pay for a replacement and have said that I can get anything I want so long as I pay the difference if it costs more.

So I really want an Iphone, but I want to use it on the T-Mobile network.

There are so many posts on so many forums that it's hard to find a definitive answer on this, so if anyone knows for sure whether it's possible, that'd be great.

Thanks

Tom

It's certainly possible to unlock an iPhone, though I have no idea how well it works on T-Mobile. Your best bet for unlocking is to buy it on pay as you go from O2 and unlock it from there. You can buy them unlocked but it will cost you a small fortune, and it will only cost £10 or thereabouts to unlock one bought direct from O2.

It is possible from my past reading, but not a permanent unlock, it relocks on connecting to itunes.

You wont be able to use the features it offers apart from text and phone.

Yeah, it's only fully supported on O2.

You can get one from play.com that will work on any network but it will set you back £600
  • Was just about to post a similar question.
    Thanks for all responses.

I've seen t-mobile staff with iphones.... nothing stopping you if you can get one unlocked. You'd be joining a few thousand people plus already on the network with one.
