Ok sorry to add to the confusion I am also on tax code 647L. I am on 30,000 per annumn paid every four weeks.
Weekly It works out i get 422.50 after tax, my girlfriend who is on 25000 per annumn gets 409 per week.
I pay 23 per week - 93 per month into a pension. I have no other benefits or cars.
Why if i am on 5000 per annumn more do i only clear £13 pound more then her?0 -

your salary and take home are about right
what are the details of your GF
has she worked since april
what is her tax code0 -
She has been in full time employment for the last three years without any gaps, im afraid she is not aware of her tax code as she has not recieved a payslipssince she started six months ago!!!
It really seems odd that that i only get £13 per week more than her!! 52 x 13 = £676.
Where does the remaining £4324 go?0 -

Sorry but the odd thing is that your girlfriend only gets £13 less than you, and is not getting a payslip. Without the full details it is impossible to check but it is her salary that needs to be looked into not yours.0 -
there must be serious concern if she hasn't received a payslip in 6 months.. she needs to speak to the payroll people asap.0

Sorry to jump the Bandwagon, but my Tax Code is 647L W.
The tax I'm paying is calculated I think on a Weekly basis [as I'm paid weekly].
Is there any way to correct this and reclaim any tax I have over paid?
I was employed up until July when I was made redundant. I was on JSA from July until October when I started work. But as I work for an agency the weekly pay differs every week depending on the hours I have done.
Would the HMRC or IR be able to correct my code - taking off the "W"?
Thanks0 -
Hi folks,
what type of tax do you pay on health insurance provided by your employer?
Is this deducted automaticly through the PAYE system?
Cheers
RR0 -
It's a 'benefit in kind' ......... and the value of it should be deducted from your personal allowance. In order you pay the appropriate amount of tax via PAYE. So your Code number will normally be lower than the norm (647)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

Hi I am working since December 15.I have a tax code of 647L. I have a salary of 2500 per month. So the current financial year i believe I would be getting an allowance of 6475.But my tax is deducted as 391 + NI 222 for every month.I feel i am paying extra tax as I should be paying tax only on financial yr salary -> (9000(3.5 months) -6475).
Please could you let me know details on this. Before this job I have never worked in UK0 -
Best to start your own thread.. you will get better responses that way
but
check your tax code ... after the 647L is there any letters like M1, W1 , noncum or anything atall
it looks like you are on an emergency, non cumulative tax code
speak to the HMRC and explain your situation0
