when i went for my scan at 13 weeks i was then told there is only 1 and it is called vanishing twin syndrome,,ive had so many shockers in this pregnancy i cant believe it,,,but well i am now having 1 baby that seems to be doing well.
Oh, I watched a documentary where they had identified, and recorded the exact point where a single fertilised egg splits into two. It was really amazing to watch! How this ball of cells doubles and doubles and then suddenly there's a blib and there are two embryo's.
Vanishing twin syndrome is pretty common, it's just that it's not usually detected. Very few women have an early scan. We could all have started off as twins. It was mentioned on that documentary, they wondered why so many embryos split into twins, they had until then assumed it was rare, when in fact it's pretty common.
*is a big geek*
Does this count as revision for my exam btw? :rotfl:0 -

For those that are concerned about swine flu (I am sure i saw someone asking about this earlier - they were trying to get info from the helpline) they have posted a bit on nhs website about pregnant ladies and they have promised more info for pregnant ladies and children under 1 soon.
All I know is that Tamiflu shouldn't be given to pregnant women unless absolutely necessary - that was from a GP who has his own stock of Tamiflu he got off a drug rep last year during the avian flu scare!
As long as people stay at home and don't go to work or to their GP surgery and infect people it won't spread. I'm holing myself in my office and not going near reception - will probably become obsessed with the alcohol rub :rotfl:
On that cheery note I'm off to bed with a nice big bowl of ice cream - strawberry tonight searchingA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Depends what your exam is on tia ..... are you going to be tested on splitting embryos and vanishing twins ?????????????????The two best things I have done with my life
