Good morning,
Penny Pincher Hope it goes well at the hospital.
Raining & wet here too but I haven't got any outside jobs to do thankfully. General pottering and I'm going to watch DS3 run in an inter school cross country race this afternoon. Poor things I hope it dries up for them
Pasta bake for dinner this evening and lunch will be some reduced baguettes with salad & ham I think. I'll get the pasta bake made soon so it's ready to just go in the oven. Need to get the food processor out & start chopping/grating all the veg that I'm hiding in it:rotfl:
((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to anyone who needs one and have a good day whatever you're up to xx0 -
Well, just skimmed the thread, so I apologise if I have missed anyone.
Feel very achy. Had to go to bed yesterday afternoon - I slept in the put up in LB's room, while LB was there, so it was relatively safe. Not undisturbed, however, and he does a sort of clog dance on the upturned chest, which echoes. However I got four loads of washing dry on the line yesterday. There is another load in at the moment, and at least three more that need doing, but the weather is foul. Also I need to change the beds, which means that the ironing mountain is growing but the washing mountain isn't shrinking
Dear heart was very good to me last night, but he wasn't on top form as he was unhurt but shaken when another driver bumped into the rear of his car on the way to work. It wasn't a big bump, the car is barely affected, but it is a bit of a shake. Then he found his wii fit age, and I am not sharing it with you but it was a lot higher than he expected. Mine will probably be 103.
Also local shop was ram raided, and the lady there is a friend, she came to LB's christening. I haven't been able to get in touch to see if they are all alright.
So lots of fretting around.
Csarina - hope your dear ones are safe and I am sure that they will find a way home soon. It seems reading it that youngsters who are properly nourished and healthy will have a nasty few days if they catch it but be ultimately fine. Celyn will be the one to know, but she is probably not allowed to say.
Mummysaver - you cook lovely things. It is likely to be oven chips here.
Nic1Lou1 - thinking of you - take care of yourself.
Pen Pen - I am not in a hurry for LB to be a teenager.
Anyway, LB needs my attention for a bit. Hugs to all, and I apologise if I have missed anyone.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Teenagers -I've only got one at the moment and he's perfectly lovely so far apart from swearing too much:rolleyes: and growing his hair long. He's nearly 14 so I know there's plenty of time for the full horror of teenagedom to kick in, by which time of course I'll have another one on my hands. It's my dd's teenage years I'm really dreading:eek:
Well, I've made my bread and it is rising. I've done a tray of flapjacks. I've used black treacle instead of my usual golden syrup after reading that it contains many good things- loads of calcium, iron, magnesium and iodine as well as the sugar. Golden syrup is just sugar. I put some seeds in them too;)
Got my fish defrosting ready for dinner tonight. Just realised we had fish yesterday too, I can hear ds1 now 'fish agaaaiiin,I don't like fish'. We're having salmon on Saturday as well:DI'm trying to get 2 servings of oily fish in a week plus one other fish.0 -
Morning all.
I haven't been in here for a while, but it's nice to catch up on posts
It's not very nice outside today, so glad we're indoors. Hopefully it will brighten up by the weekend as we're planning a visit to Stratford.
I've gone off the OS track a fair bit lately, mainly due to health and going into hospital a few times, but I realised the other day that disorganisation meant spending was out of control so time to reign it in.
I've joined the May grocery challenge, and have my first week of meal planning done. Sainsbury's delivered an order yesterday and we will have another from Asda today.
Cleaning wise, there isn't much for me to do other than put a load on in the WM. I do need to get the needle and thread on DD2's new jeans. She managed to wear them twice before ripping the knee
Dinner tonight will probably be chicken pie, and I will do some batch cooking so there are plenty of meals in the freezer for the days I have no energy to cook - which will hopefully mean I don't order in a take-away.
Have a good day everyone.

Sounds very nice thriftlady. I've some black treacle in so might give those a try. Would you mind reporting back and letting me know how they turn out pleaseThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Morning all, first off Nelski as your adopted Ma I think it only fair to say that drooling after james martin just doesn't become you ...He's all mine:rotfl::rotfl:What a delicious hunk eh, well worth putting your pinny on for me thinks
Well at the moment its not raining but I think it will later .Might pop down to the Hemstead Sava centre later on the bus (saves my petrol, and costs nowt as I has a bus pass)I want to have a wander around the shops to see if I can get inspiration for some upcoming birthdays DGS's girlfriend 19 and two of my youngest DGS 5 & 8.May have a shifti in sainsbobs whilst I'm there to see if they have any more of their delicious angus beef steak on offer. It really is the best I have tasted by a country mile. Will also buy some apples to try Diva's apple cake .
My niece moves house on Saturday from her Mums to a place of her own, so I have voulanteered my services and my car to help so a nice cake might cheer us all up. It's only three months since she lost her husband so she is still feeling very wobbly. But a new start and settling into her new home might help her a little, as her and the two little girls have moved around such a lot over the past ten years.
Right I have my to-do list written so I'd best get on with it
<<hugs to those who need or want them>> and to the rest of you I hope you have a good day
Cheers JackieO xx0 -

Morning all
Hopw you are all well. Wet and miserable here in newtownards this morning, going to sound like my granny now by telling you that the wet weather really does seem to play havoc with my arthritis.............ohhhh please I didnt just say that! I am only 25 honest! :rotfl:
MSD - thank you for that lovely recipe yesterday, will definately be giving it a go
OS didnt really happen as planned yesterday, well kinda skimmed the top of it and not really in much of a mood to do it today either to be honest. Am off to search in a minute for something I can do with steak pieces............no idea why I bought them!
Have been doing a lot of thinking over the past few days about how our lives have changed so dramatically in the past 6 months and shall we say re-evaluatiing some friendships. Wont bore you with all the details but since my illness has been diagnosed lets just say I have begun to realise who my true friends are. Hurts a lot a the sudden realisation that someone who I thought was a good friend really isnt. Am beginning to wonder whether a certain friendship is worth all the heartache that goes along with it.
Anyway................heres hoping I get some more OS done today than yesterday and that I fing something to do with these stupid steak pieces!
Hope you all have a nice day
Linz xoxoxIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
I'm back after all, I took DS2 into hospital yesterday spent the night on the ward with him, went through all the pre op checks this morning and the anesthetist cancelled the op:rolleyes:. He didn't want to risk it as DS had a little cough! DH arrived to go down to theater with us and instead brought us home. I'm going to take him to Nursery for 12 and then I'm going back to bed as I'm exhausted. I need to get some more milk at some point and DS1 has beavers tonight after school (and I haven't sewn the badge he got last week on his jumper yet
) I'm not sure what we're having for tea yet, it may be sausages and pasta.
