Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 30th April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning all,
Bit overcast here today, :rolleyes:off to work for me so not too bad. Need to put the dw on before I go, and s + s the kitchen.
House is not too bad, a quick tidy through tonight should do, a couple of washes to go on the airer.
Dinner tonight is chicken and chips, I was going to try and coat the chicken with a southern sytle coating on

Sainsbugs delivery tonight, and a long weekend to look forward too
Penny I dont envy you your teen strops, how old is your dd ? mine is 14, and I think I may have all that to come

Morning Guys!
Hope everyone is well.
I have a hospital appointment this morning, so had to be up super early.
WM & DW are both on. DD has had her breakfast and I am off to have a shower in a moment.
Take care.

Morning Redruby and all who cross/follow
dry here today for a change:j hope i`ve not jinxed it now by saying thati`ve not seen the weather forecast but i`m hoping to get in the garden for an hour or two after w*rk today. I spent some time repotting plants yesterday and i noticed that the grass is ready for yet another cut. It really does seem to be growing like mad atm.
I put the wm on before leaving this morning so i hope to be hanging my whites outside in the sun later and ignoring the cleaning that needs doing
Tea tonight is chilli & jacket potatoes with a possible blackberry and apple crumble for dessert.
Must dash, have a good day everyone
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning everyone!
It's a bit damp and dreich here too but the wind has died down from last night.
Managed to get my washing dry outside yesterday, so I was glad that I'd stripped my bed and washed it during the week. The guest bed is made up again for the next lot of visitors that descend.
Planning on doing the housework this evening when we get home - joint effort as DH is pretty good with the hoover
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all,
I was wakened early this morning by 15 year old ds coming into my bedroom to borrow my hair straighteners. A year ago we couldn't get him into the bathroom, now we can't get him out of it!It's wet and horrible here too so I doubt if I'll be able to do any gardening. The housework is sort of up to date so I'm going to do some cardmaking today. I'm the worlds untidiest crafter so no doubt there'll be a huge mess to clear up afterwards. Not sure what to do for tea but it will be something quick and simple as I'm working again tonight.
Thank you so much for your support yesterday...I was really touched by it. There are some really lovely people who post on this board. :A
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all:j
Been MIA for a wee while but am back now! I've been following the PAD thread and the Giving up/cutting down thread - needed a bit of a kick up the a**e:D
Have also posted on the 5 OS pleasures a day thread - it really makes you think about the positives in life, even when they seem negative.
Dinner tonight will be something really simple like jackets and salad as the children and I were taken out by my parents last night for my birthday dinner. We got home last night stuffed, but very happy! And I hardly had anything to drink:T
Bit grey here, but nothing like the mist/fog we had yesterday! Wash bin is empty, but can't say the same for the ironing mountain:rolleyes:
Will catch up with the past few days thread later.
Enjoy your day peeps

Morning All
Bit overcast here at the moment but hopefully the sun will show itself. Woke up feeling bleurgh, sinus' are blocked and feel a little achey - hopefully will feel better as the day goes on. Think I need to look at Martins hayfever guide.
Some officework, paperwork and ironing today. Am making hm meat pie for dinner so will get the meat cooked slowly this morning. Will make sure I clear the ironing pile. Want to list more stuff on ebay too.
Got a pineapple in my tesco home delivery yesterday as they were on special offer, it has a card on it stating that it is suitable for vegetarians!
Off now for a surf, have a good day.x
Edited to say - PenPen my DD (13) can strop for England, its sort of easier for us as she has been extremely difficult since the age of 2. We love her but sometimes its hard to like her. DS (10)is a sunny, laid back cuddly boy - am hoping he wont change. Puberty is hard work for teenagers, their bodys are going mad inside.0 -
PenPen My 2 DS's are now in their 20's, we had major strops with DS2 but not too much with DS1......whatever you do will be wrong in their eyes, as long as you can accept that it makes the hissy fits a lot easier to cope with! They get so wrapped up in being obnoxious to the exclusion of everything else......but it will get better, honest. Teenagers who were stroppy generally grow up to be pretty "nice" and "normal" adults! As Essexgirl says, it is hard to like them when they are being so horrid. :grouphug:
Sistercas I swear by a slug pub, and picking snails off & throwing them into the back lane (if they hit the far wall & break it's a bonus!) but my mum used to pick them off & drop them into a bucket of salty water!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Today I'm off on a course about 'core values' sounds riveting - not impressed as its compulsory and its my day off:mad: Tonight I'm off out for a friends birthday meal. Not done mych OS stuff the last few days - just too busy at work but after the course I've got a week off:j so lots of time to catch up.
PP - hope it goes well at the hospital x
Redruby - good luck with the chicken coating
(((hugs))) to those in need
hope you all have a great day xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning everyone:hello:
The kids just had pancakes for breakfast made with wholemeal flour and yogurt. I finished up the yogurt and am just scalding some milk for the next batch.
Must make some bread today. Am going to make a seedy/granary type batch. I shall do some baking for the kids as well as they've eaten all the muffins and I'm pleased to report that I haven't eaten any. In fact I have had no snacks this week at all -go me:j
Lunchboxes are filled with bagels with ham/hummus, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, grapes and the last apricot muffins.
Dinner tonight -I've got some frozen pollack fillets (Sainsbury's basics) and frozen prawns so I think I'll do a stir fry with peppers, carrots, courgettes and beansprouts (home sprouted mung beans). We'll have it with rice.0
