Morning All
Kept waking up, and ended geting up in the end, has it turned warmer or is it just the power surges:rolleyes:
Just checked the banking, so I can go away and not have to worry. Weather for the east coast is cloud and sun/cloud mid-50F so not bad at all, anything without rain in the 'van is a bonus. We can cope with being wet inside;)
Another manic day today, shower and hair washed in a mo - then a bit of sorting in the 'van and the ironingdidn't get to yesterday, as the TV aerial man came as we had lost the quality of the picture, so as this aerial was over 20 years old had a new one. He is very good and reasonable, his own business, but likes to talk so what someone would do in half a hour is at least an hour and a half for him, but cheaper/better for us! We got the car yesterday so no doubt DH will be "playing". Start sorting out the 'van, go and see my Dad he will be 89 on Sunday while we are away, but he will not be aware of it! Then off to a works reunion, and followed by a trip to the DVLA in Sheffield. Shopping, and call and see DNephew who is also our mechanic to "ooh and aaah" over the car:rolleyes:;), then further sorting of the 'van.
Good luck at the hospital Pen-Pin hope they make you comfortable.
HesterB - how are you coping?
Teenager daughters I cannot comment on only had DS, that was enough. We didn't ban drinking, but allowed it with us present in sensible amounts. Luckily DS was more interested in sport at 16. Careful with the hair straighteners though Pink-W DS used to use them and started losing his hair at 20:eek:, now a close shave is his hair-do. I agree with the don't like comments, there are times I think we all don't like our off-spring, love them yes, but not particularly liking at times. I was at a friends while pregnant and they had two little girls, and as part of telling them off, she would say I don't love you when you do that or behave like that, and I can remember them saying back to her, and I don't love you Mummy. That would have hurt me terribly, so remember sitting DS down and saying we always love you, but we don't like you when you do xxxxxxxxx or behave like xxxxxxxxx.
Take care - DG
Trying to do a M I think - better go and jump in the shower.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hmmm - listened to the forecast on the radio which said East Anglia will remain dry, opened the curtains....and it's raining! Ah well, can't win 'em all!
Have taken on two new church-related tasks as result of last evening's meeting - why can't I remember NOT to tell people I still haven't got used to being retired yet?
Need to make more bread today. I may find myself doing loads of cleaning in an effort to avoid sorting through the various boxes in the spare room...
Anyone successfully made loose covers for a couch? It's in great condition apart from the state of the fabric which looks dingy in the extreme. I usually throw an old bedspread over it, but would love to have loose covers - without the cost of buying as they seem exorbitant to me!
Haven't followed thread for a few days, so hope all is well.Resolution:

Morning all
I'm with you DonnyGal. I can remember with DS1 when he was younger, was always getting into trouble at school and driving me to distraction and saying to him I will always love you but I don't like you sometimes.
Have a couple of days off work now, so back on Tuesday where I will be on tenterhooks waiting for DH to ring to say whether he's redundant or not  Praying for the latter obviously. I hope to do it early in the day as opposed to later as I won't be able to take the strain
We are going to the opticians this morning to have our eyes tested. Not been for 3 years or so, so expecting to get new glasses. I wonder if I can find some frames to make me look more intelligent, that's going to be a hard task :rotfl:
Have a pile of ironing to return to so that will keep me out of mischief. Sausages, jacket potatoes and baked beans for dinner.
Hugs to all and have a good day0 -

Morning all!
Grey and wet here, hoping it'll dry up in a bit so I can run the dog up the lane! Well not hoping that hard actually, but he will need to go out I suppose! Got dd3's pet assembly this aft on the school field, taking the rabbits, so really hoping that it's dry by then, not much fun standing under brollies on the side of a hill!
OS stuff today is going to be cooking and cleaning again! What on earth happens in the shower is a mystery, how can it always need cleaning? Or am I just becoming obsessive about it I wonder! Making chicken (well turkey actually cos it was ys yesterday in Asda!) wrapped in mozzarella and bacon, will serve with lots of veg and mini roasties for the kids' dinner, will have to pop out for some cream later as promised choc mousse for dessert.
Will also be making pizzas and stuffed chillies, have olives marinating already, taking dinner round to a friend tonight, he's providing the wine :-) Kids are spending the night with their dad. Dough is in the breadmaker, chillies are still in the shop lol! Will also need to check whether dd1 has left any hm cream cheese or if she polished it off last night! May even whip up Thriftlady's choc pud - still in worry mode as friend is a chef, so it feels slightly like judgement day when I dish up!
Lunches today were hm sausage rolls, cheese cubes, olives, satsumas and dd2's hm choc brownie cakes. My lunch will be eggs on toast and some fruit.
Right, guess I'd best get on with some of these jobs! Have a good day all, hugs where needed! xx
PS - not caught up on the teenage daughter saga yet, but I always find that behaviour improves dramatically around the end of the month, nothing to do with pocket money day being 1st of the month! xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
morning all! a lovely wet day here so that gives me the chance to sort out the spare [junk] room :rotfl:
boiling up the hock bones for soup meanwhile and will have ham and pea soup with hm bread for tea, lunch is salad sandwich.
teenagers are the pits  had 4 and had to be v assertive cos they were all taller than me,[i'm 5'! ]the tallest now is 6' 2" but it has paid off as they do show me respect as well as love and care. Those of you who have some of these transitional beings have my sympathy!
[[[hugs]]] to all who need them
have a great day allSaving for another hound :j

Morning all.
Been busy again this morning (its the best time of day as the kids are happy to play on their own first thing!) and have cleaned the kitchen venetian blind, mopped the floors and done a quick tidy round. Going to have a cup of coffee and some breakkie in a mo.
It's raining here - boo hiss! but on a positive note I have just had a childminding enquiry after the leaflet drop I did the other afternoon - YAY! It might not turn into any work (am definately NOT getting my hopes up) but it's nice to see my hard work tramping round the estate was worth it.
Tea tonight is the pork I cooked in the SC yesterday. I know my H isn't keen (he's really a chicken man at heart) but he's said he's happy to eat it (even if it's only a tiny bit!).
Got to do some dusting this morning BORING! And clean the bathroom. I really should get off the 'puter but it's sooooooooooo addictive!
Have a good day all.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
