Existing AOL customers tried to get new customer deal?

Hi,

Have just noticed that AOL are offering new customers silver broadband for £14.99 for first 6 mons then £17.99 after that. Have just come to the end of a one year contract with them and was wondering if anyone else in a similar situation had managed to get a new customer deal for their 2nd year by threatening to leave perhaps. Am paying 17.99 at the mo and did not get a special offer when I joined.

Thanks

Can't help you with the ringing-up-to-nag approach, but I know that as a long-term AOL subscriber, they do periodically improve your deal, or they have for me, at least. Recently they upgraded me from "Silver" to "Gold" broadband at no extra cost.

    Which was nice ;)

I have joined AOL fairly recently, and ins addition to their offer of £14.99 for 6 months, followed by £17.99, they offered me £15.99 each month for 12 months. This obviously works out a little bit cheaper over 12 months, but it also has the added benefit of continuing at £15.99, instead of at £17.99.

    Hope this helps.

been with aol for a few months on dial up
rang them up to say i wanted to cancel so i could go onto broadband with another provider.they offered me the silver package at 15.99 for as long as i stay with them.
i told them i still wasnt happy and i can get a better deal else were.
with a bit more of a push i managed to get one month free told the guy i was speaking that i would only stay if they gave me the wireless router for free, he refused told him to ask his supervisor came back and offered me one month free. every little bit helps

my advice is give them a call but do a bit of a reaseach on what deals are available by other providers becuase they will ask what your changing to . and then they will offer you a better deal

i made the mistake of not doing the reaserch and im sure i could have got a better deal
but im happy with what i got.
and i intend to call them back when i get set up on bb inside there 7 day cooling off period and then telll them im not happy with the service and see what they offer me then

Just as a bit of advice for other AOL customers, my package price was reduced to 15.99 no problem at all when I phoned up. It seems to me that they'll give this deal to anyone who has finished their first years contract (although I did have to commit to another year)

However I would have thought that if you don't phone, they'll carry on charging you the 17.99 if you're not complaining about it!
