Hi
I am interested in getting a stocks & shares ISA.
I am wanting to invest £50 in a propery fund.
Anyone got any ones to recomend. Would prefer a new fund that has only just started up, so the unit costs are pretty low, where as established funds unit cost are quite high (ie. £1.50+ per unit)
I have seen Standard Life Select Property Fund Acc
Should I go through a discount broker??

Makes absolutely no difference what the price per unit/share is when you buy it.Should I go through a discount broker
Yes, if you do not need specific advice and are happy to deal on an "execution only" basis.0 -
There are still very few funds available for ISAs.I guess not all are listed here - incl the SL new one:
Property unit trusts
There is more choice in the offshore investment trust area ( for this you'll need an S&S ISA with a broker like Squaregain or a SIPP).
Property investment trusts
But far and away the most choice is in pensions. For these you need a personal pension with one of the property fund providers.
Property pension funds
If you have an existing PP, it might be worth using that to gain access to property funds for the moment until the providers get their act together with their ISA offerings. :rolleyes:Trying to keep it simple...

There are about 20 property funds available within ISAs now. Some bricks and mortar, some equity based. Some UK, some Euro, some Global.
If you pick the 1-10 risk scale the you are looking at them ranging from low risk 4 through to high risk 10. Research with property funds is important. Where is the money? Where are the properties (all in one location?), what is the cash holding? Are there limited dealing dates (some property funds have only 1 dealing day a month)? Can encashment be delayed if the fund management team decide it is not a good time to pay out money? Just a few things you need to consider.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). M and G have started a Property Funbd - initial investment on direct debit must be £500 and then you can invest by direct debit for any amount0
