I was turned down for a current account with Smile, but appealed & was given full current account with debit card & £500 overdraft. I think I will appeal, after all the searches are on my file now & they're only going to say yes or no I suppose. I was just hoping others might have had successful appeals to inspire me!

Hi all, been following your board for a few weeks, ever since I realised that I fall in the category of sub-prime! Recently been accepted by Barclaycard & Vanquis, turned down by pretty much everyone else, due to lack of credit history. I'm thinking of appealing these decisions, but I'm wondering if anyone here has ever successfully appealed a credit card decline? Thanks in advance :hello:

I appeal everything and trust me, i'm an experienced applicant LOL

Have a read of this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1612333

Worth appealing as they don;t do another search, they usually consider it so worth it for a stamp!

    My thoughts exactly!

Read your appeal template earlier - excellent info by the way. My only niggle is you say it's pointless appealing if delined on credit score - that was the basis of my appeal with Smile & they re-assessed me anyway & I was successful, so it does work sometimes!

Still hurts slightly to be declined - I'm tempted to say "screw you" but then realise no, I actually do need them if I'm to rebuild my credit history!

Sorry, i'll elaborate for you - when I say it pointless appealing a credit score reject you'll know the difference because one will say something like 'we are sorry but you do not meet our minimum acceptance criteria. Sorry we can not be of more assistance'. This means don't bother!

However, others will say similar to 'however if your circumstances or financial position change, or you have additional information then we may be able to reconsider our decision'....

    Make sense?

First Direct, also, quite uniquely will never overrule a system credit score decline - as I found out to my own amusement.

Next didn't credit search me. Maybe they noticed that I applied within 3 months and got declined already, so just didn't do a search.

Out of curiosity, is it worth applying for Tesco CC when I start my new job on Friday. I'll be on around 13k, but only have 6 active credit accounts on my credit report, 3 with 5 green 0's, 2 with 3 green 0's and 1 with 2 green 0's. 8 searches in the last 3 months.

Would it just be a waste of a search?

Maybe it's a good thing it said this once I hit the apply button on Tesco Credit Card...

Account Opening service is not available between the hours of 24:00 and 06:30, please try again later.

Might apply tomorrow if no one talks me out of it. :D
