    Does Littlewoods do credit searches?
Littlewoods search Equifax BUT as you have Kays account you may not get searched as they may base decision on previous account conduct within SDG :D

Odd. I was asking because a family member got accepted for a Littlewoods account. She have one of the worst credit historys you can imagine. Collection agencies chasing her up for tens of thousands of pounds in debt for the past 5 or so years and she has always avoided them and their nasty letters.

She has a £1300 limit with Littlewoods despite her credit history? Even Vanquis or Capital One wouldn't accept her nor does she have a bank account.

How is someone with a history like this able to get a Littlewoods account, and certain others on this forum get declined?

Very strange... Littlewoods etc turned me down first time I applied, possibly due to electoral roll but know of other people on here who have been declined due to adverse.. Just shows what a complete lottery the whole 'credit granting' thing is

Yes it is very stange. Thats why I asked if they do credit searches. Her credit history can't possibly get any worse and she hasn't attempted at paying any debts for years.

She receives some letters ocasionally threatening court and whatnot but nothing has ever come of it.

Chances are if letters are from DCA's threatening court action it will never happen..if it was so straightforward the original lender would do it rather than sell on a debt for something like 10p in the pound :T

Yeah. Several DCA's sent her a letter saying they are willing to write off a large portion of the debt. When she told me about this, I knew right away they don't have a leg to stand on. They wouldn't make an offer like this unless they've exhausted all other routes.

How long would she have to avoid the DCA's for before the debt is written off completely? I was told that after a certain amount of years, if they haven't received a payment or such, they have to write the debt off??

Statute barred is 6 years from date of last payment or written acknowledgement of debt. Chances are she is nearly in the clear so to speak  Debt still remains but cannot be enforced EVER...unless CCJ obtained previously :D

Upgraded to HSBC Plus yesterday. Went via Quidco, but it hasn't tracked, so I'm guessing it's only for new customers and not upgrades.

Changed my bank details with work today and told the manager, so it'll be updated for next payday. Just need to transfer all of the direct debits to HSBC now.

Lloyds and Barclays I'm going to keep open and just run a few £100 through them each month.

Waiting for my Advance Account to show as HSBC Plus, then I can order a nice black plus debit card and get text banking setup.
