No, it wasn't from imTOO's website actually, i was doing some searches and stumbled across a website that claimed to have a collection of good programmes, perhaps this malware was included in the download

However, I have backed up all my stuff and was planning to do a clean wipe of my laptop (ie format it) having already backed all important stuff onto external hard drive. I'm sure this will fix the problem ultimately (and I'm due a fresh format cos the old laptop is running a bit slow), what do you guys reckon? I've heard its good practice to format your computer annually, and mine's due soon enough.

Just out of interest, how long would a malware scan/hijack cleanup take?

    thanks!

If your up for it then run a fresh install

  • Malwarebytes scan will take about an hour, hijack log no more than 5 mins I think.

Id suggest installing AVIRA anti virus and MALWAREBYTES as a secondary scanner
